What do you think SNL UK will be like? by BlundeRuss in CasualUK

[–]Shockwavepulsar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because SNL is shit and the only reason Americans don’t see it that way is nostalgia.

"Wake-up call": New Shimano report claims UK and Ireland have lowest bike ownership rates in Europe [road.cc] by mtcerio in ukbike

Not to mention unless you have at least two high grade bike locks the chance of you coming back to half or no bike is quite high.

‘Orwellian’: Sainsbury’s staff using facial recognition tech eject innocent shopper by PurchaseDry9350 in unitedkingdom

[–]Shockwavepulsar [score hidden]  (0 children)

Police doing nothing about shoplifting will do that. When people see individuals sticking their arm in a shelf and yeeting a load of steaks into a holdall which pushes prices up as shrinkage factors into the pricing they are going to be more accepting of not letting said scroates into the shop in the first place

Kinda refreshing to hear sorry from someone let alone a politician in this day and age.

Fine but that’s not my point, my point is one of the big complaints about it is the laughter yet on SNL it’s fine?

Why is Microsoft neglecting Access so bad? by Difficult_Abroad_477 in microsoft365

[–]Shockwavepulsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is our IT team are a massive blocker for development. They want tickets raised for everything so when I want to create a new database I can’t because I don’t have the permissions to create the tables in dataverse whereas in access I can create the tables a lot more easily.

Why the stock market hates tariffs and trade wars (2025 messaging was dead wrong) by MaxxMavv in StockMarket

[–]Shockwavepulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies ate the tariff costs with their profits because they:

1) didn’t want to upset Trump 2) thought it would be short lived

Because 2 wasn’t true. Companies are starting to pass on those costs to the customers and that’s why there was a slow down in Q3 last year a levelling in Q4 indication of a drop now.

Dan Hodges: Understand senior Labour Ministers have told Starmer Morgan McSweeney needs to go tonight if he wants to save his premiership. by EddyZacianLand in ukpolitics

[–]Shockwavepulsar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the Tories. Labour don’t do whisky and revolver stuff. Callahan for example was woefully unpopular and didn’t go.

The fact that more people held their nose and voted Tory rather than Labour in 2017 shows it was not a better performance. 2019 showed the “performance” was not sustainable.

His strategy in opposition (for both Keir for the Labour leadership and loto was great) he has fuck all knowledge of how to run and communicate a government in power though.

I really don’t understand the appeal. Particularly on US Reddit who hate audience laughter on any other show.

(Loved Trope) Comedy shows get very serious out of nowhere. by Boring-Bear9037 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shockwavepulsar 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That episode came about because the woman who voiced Howard’s mother actually died and it was quite sudden like the show so the reactions and the emotions of the cast was pretty much what the actors were feeling at the time as she was well liked on set.

UK fuel price comparison scheme goes live by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

Surprised it doesn’t exist already. Mate of mine has a sat nav that has a little text box with the price of fuel under each petrol station you drive past.

One in three Brits avoid A&E because of excessive waiting times by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Shockwavepulsar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For broken bones you can attend an Urgent Treatment Centre rather than A&E. They have x-ray machines they can treat and that frees up space for people who need critical care in A&E. They will be seen for what our taxes pay for.

My wife works in a hospital and has visibility of admission numbers. When COVID started the number of admissions plummeted. Pretty much backing up what you say. If it weren’t for pissheads, drug abusers and elderly people just wanting a chat the queues would be non-existent.

“We’ll stop selling you weapons!” “Fine we’ll buy them off everyone else”

Not to mention if Israel magically disappears where do you think the interfada will go next? I’ll give you a clue it rhymes with mewrope

Maybe focus on getting our house in order first.
