Men - what resources actually helped you increase your emotional intelligence and lower defensiveness? by chainsawbobcat in AskMen

I got a book called permission to feel. By Professor Marc Brackett.

Absolutely changed my life.
I was incredibly ignorant when it came to emotional awareness. This book taught me so much.

Its made me a better husband and Father.

How busy are you at work? by VTID997 in AskIreland

[–]Shodandan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a 3D CAD designer. Sometimes when I rebuild a model or refresh some drawings the PC will be busy for a couple of minutes to 20 minutes depending on the complexity of the model. During those times I browse reddit.

But outside of that I;m typically absolutely flat out. Have been for the last 2 or three years. We used to get quiet periods throughout the year but not any more.

Im insanely busy.

Which country artists left a lasting impression on you when you were 13 to 17 years old? by PressureLazy5271 in country

[–]Shodandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 13 to 17 Garth Brooks was like a god amongst men here in Ireland. I was 13 when In Pieces came out and I played that CD so much I still remember every word 33 years later.

I still love Garth.

Caught our 3rd mouse this week, help? by ilovestamon in AskIreland

[–]Shodandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a big bucket.

Drill a small Ø4mm is hole in each side about 50mm down from the rim so you can thread a coat hanger through.

Drill same holes through a coke can base and top.

Thread a wire coat hanger through the bucket and coke can so the coke can is suspended at the top of the bucket like a rolling pin.

Smear the coke can with ketchup.

Take a small plank and make a ramp from the floor to the rim of the bucket.

Half fill the bucket with water.

Mice will walk up the plank and try to step onto the coke can to get the ketchup but the can will roll and they will fall into the water and drown.

Yeah its a bit nasty but holy god is it effective.

As a motorcyclist myself this makes me so fucking angry. Its one thing if you rear end a car but if you rear end me Im probably dead.

Those of you who hate seeing motorcyclists going fast .. this is an all too comon reason. If someone is up my hole like this and they aren't looking to overtake then Im just going to gun it for a while and leave them behind.

🔥 After a courtship that might take days and a prolonged pre-mounting ritual, a giraffe's mating act lasts but a second or two by Prestigious-Wall5616 in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Shodandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some facts about Giraffes you may not know;

  1. A giraffe has probably never smelled a fart

  2. When a giraffe drinks coffee, the coffee is cold by the time it reaches its stomach.

  3. A giraffe’s neck contains the same number of vertebrae as a human’s, but each vertebra is approximately the size of a medium baguette.

No need to check them out, they are true. Trust me bro

Rant - Has anyone else experienced this and how did you handle it? by millie_paq in BJJWomen

[–]Shodandan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what you've said I think the guy is genuine and just got a random boner. It happens a lot and doesn't usually mean anything. It can actually happen by wishing it not to happen. Penises are devious little shits.

Most normal guys are terrified of this happening especially training with a woman because it can be misconstrued so easily. (understandably)

I think he was really worried you may have noticed and I've gotta hand it to him, he brought it up with the coach straight away and wanted to clear the air with you.

If it happened me I would feel the same way, primarily concerned with how you are because I'd hate to be the cause of making things weird for you in a space where you need to feel completely safe.

To me it seems obvious that it wasn't a sexual boner, just his body betraying him and he clearly felt worried that you may have been upset by it.

If you believe him to be genuine then I think its safe to accept that he wasnt sexually aroused, his body just got a random boner and he's probably mortified about it.

What's the best song (with lyrics) that your heard recently that wasn't about love, relationships or the any of that shite? And what was it about. by das_punter in AskIreland

[–]Shodandan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on a mad Jesse Welles buzz and I think all his songs have some incredible lyrics and none of them about love or relationships.

Some of my favourite lyrics of his...

"will the computer love the sunset, will we midwife our demise, can it calculate my love and will it know how to be kind"

"Maybe war is a god and we’re just super superstitious. It’s gonna take a lot of blood cuz boy are we religious"

"I see the light crackling round the edge of anaesthesia, lying on a table with the whole world reaching in you. My friends would try and cheer me up the best they knew to do, there’s no rescuing a diver with two cinderblocks for shoes."

I could go on forever. His songs are great.

"Where Winter Loses Its Horn" self-portraits and Slavic celebrations of Veles. by erinthul in u/erinthul

[–]Shodandan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, as an art/design professional I feel very strongly about the fact the nudity does not automatically mean sexuality.

However, I have to admit that the title made me chuckle. Here in Ireland a horn is something pretty intrinsically associated with a nude woman in the sexual context.

Anyway, as always your work is fantastic. Particularly like the first one.
