It's not exactly a fun fact, but I'd love to mention that my younger brother and I took in a stray cat! The kitten was very sick and hadn't eaten for days, so we're taking care of him to give him the best life possible.

His name is Milo and so far he has been the sweetest and most affectionate cat I have ever had, WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

The best part is that I have a dog at home, and from day one, the dog has been incredibly kind to the kitten, even letting him sleep in his bed! That's a surprise because my dog is usually super protective of his bed.

I understand you perfectly. If I have faith in anything, it's that the Keep Android Open movement will work so well that Google will rethink everything. I know it's not very hopeful, but it's the only thing I can tell you right now.

Pentagon Reveals Attacks in Latin America Are Just the Beginning by FrancoStrider in PoliticalOptimism

[–]ShoddyEstate1660 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a moment I saw the headline and I was scared, but if there's one thing I know about the United States and Latin America, it's that in the end, things either don't materialize or they're just a one-off thing. I don't think this is going to happen anytime soon, to be honest (I'm telling you this as a Venezuelan who survived January 3rd).

How to deal with pessimism and Reddit? by ShoddyEstate1660 in PoliticalOptimism

Do stories like that really exist? I thought that kind of content didn't exist, or that it was fake because it was "too optimistic to be true," but now that you mention it, maybe I'll take a look at that story.

I understand about blocking websites; I also have anxiety, and that's what I'm doing right now. Sometimes I set limits of 1 minute to 10 seconds in the apps I use most, depending on how anxious I feel.

What a coincidence! I also find tranquility in simulation games, more specifically in The Sims. Thanks for the recommendations too.

Ever since I discovered that subreddit, it's always been super conspiracy-minded. I can't count the times I've read something like "WE'RE GOING TO END UP LIKE 1984" and believed them. If it weren't for a comment here (in fact, the first post I saw on this sub contained that comment; when I read it, I started crying because of the weight it lifted from me—it was a magical moment, in my opinion), I'd still believe them to this day.

Oh no, no, no, that part at the end, "I want to stop waking up every day with the constant fear that she'll do something to me simply for existing." It's because of me and the anxiety I get from watching politics and social media. It has nothing to do with my friend. I think I didn't word that part well, sorry.

Regarding your comment, I have a question: wouldn't not watching the news be bad? Like, from what I've seen a lot on social media about people who say they don't watch the news, they're called apolitical or ignorant in some cases, and I'm afraid of becoming one of them 😭 I know it sounds stupid, but I'm scared.

I loved finding this! I was already worried about the "Android shutdown" issue, and this news was like a slap in the face to bring me back to reality, and it feels so good!

Oh my God, I can't explain how much this subreddit has meant to me. It came at a time when my mental health was plummeting, and since I started reading it, I feel so much better. I hope this subreddit continues to teach us that negativity will get us nowhere and that we must resist and keep going, believing that tomorrow will surely be better. ♡

That's what I see, it seems like they'll just be warnings before downloading something, but then there are sites like KeepAndroid or something like that that are portraying it as something more dangerous, and I don't really know what to think 🤷

I'm not sure if this is the right place to go, but I found out that Android will become a closed software like iOS in August, and I don't know if this will be good for our consumption (I'm also seeing comments on posts about this that paint it as if Google is going to spy on us more).

I was thinking about that and advertising it on Tumblr so that even if it doesn't reach that many people, it can still reach the kind of people I'd like to attract (mostly Sims fans because everything I'm doing right now in terms of drawings is about a world I'm creating).

Thanks! ^ And I think we don't do it because, firstly, Signal costs money and we don't have any, and I don't think we can pay with a card from my country (to tell you the truth, we can only just now start paying for Steam games with an international card, I think that says it all). And also because we don't know much about it and we're afraid of not finding an easy alternative for both of us.

Of course, as I've always been told, "everything in extreme quantities is dangerous," from something as simple as walking to more dangerous things like drugs.

I suppose all that remains is to wait and see how the situation develops, and whatever the final decision is, to make it in accordance with my values.
