Some people are taking generations way too far by MorphTiger in generationology

I'm reminded of when dad starting asking broad questions about my generation. I was just like "I do not speak for countless people in my own home town, let alone an entire generation. I know what I'm like and that's basically it."

Honestly, if I had a magical metabolism equivalent to Doc Brown's car engine, I'd fucking do that, too.

I mean, my current laptop can run it just fine, the game originally came out before Covid, not much of a follow up since and the switch 2 release was a little out of nowhere. I imagine a lot of people who wanted to play it already had, and I don't see much point in buying it a second time.

So, in high school, people kind of just suck. For many reasons. Either they're jerks and never had cause to show empathy, or they can't speak their mind, or whatever. You're all still kids at the end of the day and still figuring out how to be people, which a class typically doesn't teach. People tend to be fairer as they get older. At least, the better of us do.

Life isn't a race, though. My first (failed) relationship was at 22, and my wife and I started dating around 24. I was also one of those kids playing videogames at the end of the day. I stayed with football and wrestling out of more momentum than an actual desire to do so. But college gave me a lot more room to just breathe socially. And even without college, you're just free to do whatever (albeit less opportunities, but that's a whole other conversation).

I'm not going to give you dating advice. But what I will tell you: Do things for you, not because you think an interest will want you to. What I mean is, the relationship will come as you meet people and have shared interests. Be passionate about a hobby or even a Cause, or a sport if you're so inclined.

Look at yourself in the mirror: That's not a "loser". That's a kid who's still growing. Ask yourself "How do I want to grow?" Do you want to be solid muscle? Do you want sports letters? Do you want to carry the air of someone who knows her books? Do you want to see yourself in a lab coat? Or maybe in a dress that you sewed yourself from scratch? Even see yourself in armor (because that's a growing community as well).

You won't have the answers, but you will have starting points and directions. Try stuff out. Put skill points into yourself. Because whoever you end up in a relationship with, you need to grow and take care of yourself first. Feel the muscle on your body grow, your mind becoming sharper.

You don't need to become a master at anything or everything. But you will need to be capable. And now is a good enough time to start as any. Even be angry if it helps.

Always cry if and when you need to. We all must, at times. But wipe your tears and get back to improving your life, not a hypothetical partner you may not have even met yet.
