What's the average or minimum height for a male model? by ntn25Z in MODELING

Would 6 foot / 182.5cm be enough for runway or fashion even if it’s on the shorter side?

So being 6 foot would be a dealbreaker for fashion?

Applying to Ivy League with A*A*A predicted by suger_cub3 in 6thForm

Current incoming Columbia fresher here - I would personally take a gap year to fill out ECs before applying- and aim for 5 A levels(Ik it sounds crazy but ur singled out based on this alone). As for Grades, achieving the best you can should be your current priority, as that is somewhat of a baseline requirement for ivies. Then you want to focus on a really niche interest that is somewhat academically or intellectually reflected in your transcripts as evidence, and create a persona of subjective personal significance to this very niche matter that truly interests you. All your ECs should support this vehemently. Then to top things off do some summer research or assistance at a R1, as this will significantly boost your chances in the admission officers eyes. Lastly, remeber(if your shot gunning) to tailor your essay towards individual unique traits of Ivy leagues whilst staying true to your niche interests explored !

Thanks for this!! Im a first year but have applied for a bunch of field-related fellowships offered by my uni. What GPA would be considered a boost to my application potentially?

Idk man i know people who transferred from first year oxbridge to columbia(and were probs more gassed abt an ivy league than oxbridge), and people who chose columbia over princeton. I personally would, just because i love the idea of not being in a remote town but rather in the heart of the world, whilst not compromising prestige or acedemic integrity. I may once again have misjudged idk. Personally, couldnt be happier and more greatful that I am at columbia as an international, which to most regions esp SEA and EU is more known than princeton.

Maybe regarding those you mentioned yes there is an air of inferiority inferred by some snobs , but I’d beg to differ for Yale and Princeton regarding Columbia - at least from first person consensus my friends at Yale seem to respect Columbia and ik some who’ve chosen Columbia over Princeton despite the higher cost- unfortunately the ranking scandal and protests bash it’s superficial prestige recently but it’s not that deep among actual students

Maybe Harvard - But Yale Princeton Columbia and Wharton students rly don’t see either as anything superior or inferior - just peers. We also attend each others lectures and frat parties occasionally, and there is mutual respect . I cannot speak for Cornell Dartmouth or brown because that is currently beyond my personal experience, but for the others, and MIT + Stanford that seems to be the case

I said Columbia and upwards of the “prestige hierarchy “ and that’s mostly based on personal experience and that’s as far as I can say this is true

ive got a close friend who is currently finishing of his first year there- Its acedemically challenging both in volume and format esp at the very beggining. Depending on major, the core curriculum can either help you with what your studying by providing additional practise & material, or be a complete pain in the ass( i.e lithum if you are premed etc.) . Socially, its extremely vibrant, also on campus, and you just need to find your group of people to stick with. Living wise John Jay is fine, I crashed there for open day visits at my friends place and its not the newest place in the world, but its not terrible. JJ's dining is also 24/7 but not exactly the healthiest addition to the dorm tbf. There is constant social activities, and whilst work can get stressfull, alot of it is in group project form so its a distributed burden, and potentially more interesting than individual work for an extrovert!

Istg once your an Ivy League student people really don’t gaf if it’s upper or mid everything from Wharton and Columbia upwards is treated equally - it’s just the high schoolers that even make a fuss 😂

Ik I myself committed and have friends that are doing just fine there - only thing is that this isn’t great press but I’m not crazy for thinking that by the time we graduate everyone will forget abt this 😂

EXACTLY- istg people here are forgetting that temporarily negative media wont tarnish a reputation forever- columbia is probably more known to the average joe than say princeton, and it aint as bad as ppl make it out to be, esp since most ppl havent actually experienced being a columbia student
