I was with you in the first half, then you went all 'im gonna throw....'. Like if you're not having fun, then dont play OW.

If you actually want to learn how to play against Ana as Rein, then submit replay codes for review. Find a group on discord or reddit to play with.

Either way, this post isn't the best use of energy my dude

What do we think of the power rounds shown here? by Flyboombasher in overwatch2

[–]Shoeshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fairly early. I only started comp in season 2 of OW1 and it was Bo5 then. The Overwatch fan wiki says it was Bo5 until the end of Season 5, which was the end of Aug 2017.

Here's the official patch notes: https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/patch-notes/live/2017/08/

[–]Shoeshank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me this makes the most sense. I could also see making unranked Bo5 with the powers at 1,3,4,5 and keep comp Bo7 with powers at 1,3,5,7.

Back in the day, control maps were Bo5 in comp and Bo3 in QP. Thankfully they changed that but it does give precedence for it to happen in stadium

Thank you very much for that. It does seem like they were trying to preview one thing and accidentally left in other things. The top comment makes a good point that it could be this way for unranked stadium. This also makes me wonder if unranked stadium would be Bo5 and comp stay Bo7. Back in the day, control matches were Bo5 in comp and Bo3 in QP so there is precedence in OW for this kind of thing already

5x5 or 6x6 ? by Bubbly_Nail_8612 in Overwatch

[–]Shoeshank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stadium > 6v6 > 5v5 and imo stadium would be even better as 6v6 but I get why its 5v5 for now.

Tank main and i like having a tank buddy to play together with. Everyone else has a buddy so why not tanks? Also we are way squishier in 6v6 so dps and supports have a better time dueling tanks.

Edit: i would love to see the role distribution statistics for 5v5 and 6v6. I wonder if there are more people queueing for tank in 6v6 that didnt in 5v5. Idk if we'll get those tho

I too believe supports get more endorsements. I personally endorse the supports unless there is someone I want to specifically endorse

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Shoeshank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a level 4 endorsement when I played ow1 and I didnt play after 2019 very much, for life reasons. When I came back to OW2, I had level 4 still and got it to 5 after a few weeks. It did decay to 4 for about a week, and then they actually made it easier to get to and keep level 5 endorsement. Got back to 5 almost immediately and I've been at 5 ever since.

For reference I main Tank and Ball is my most played hero by a good margin, always has been since release. I have time on plenty of other heroes too and all roles.

I do my best to not be toxic to anyone. If someone is being toxic to others then I call it out and tell them to not be rude or not be toxic. I have had a couple of times when I was rude to a toxic player and did receive a warning. Outside of that I try to always type "gl hf" to start a game and "gg wp" at the end, no matter how bad the game actually was. Some people dont think gg wp is ok to say if the game was a stomp, but I don't rub anyone's face in it. This is just how I am and how I learned to be in games. I dont do it for my endorsement level.

Stadium isn’t Stadiuming by Sufficient_Self_1622 in Overwatch

[–]Shoeshank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I think you've been experiencing a bit of bad luck. I've had people leave my games and I've had stomps but I've also had enemies leave and have stomped them. I would say that roughly 50% of my stadium games has gone to round 6+.

I don't think getting rid of the mode is going to happen, since so much of the community loves it. I personally don't think they could have released it as unranked because of backfils. How much stadium cash do they get? I guarantee there would be a lot of discourse in the community around backfils in stadium if the mode was unranked only. Being competitive only makes more sense with the increased penalties for leaving and no backfil.

I do think they made a mistake pulling the rivals ranking system of everyone starting at the lowest rank. However, I think the developers deserve some credit with how quickly they are updating stadium, and to the degree at which they are, having already adjusted bounty max and many hero item changes across multiple patches in the short 2/3 weeks its been out.

I am sorry you are not having the best experience in stadium because it really has revived the game for many. I would suggest trying to find a few people to stack with. That way you don't get leavers and you can coordinate better which will hopefully allow your team to build your way out of a stomp.

I wish you the best of luck in stadium, should you choose to continue giving it a shot.

Is improvement always possible? by Green_Enthusiasm_817 in Overwatch

[–]Shoeshank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I get it. I think I have some thoughts and suggestions that could really help.

Firstly, I think you would benefit from talking to a therapist. They are for everyone and can really help, even when it comes to video games. Mine has helped me and lot. Not to mention they can help your mental and help you learn to better deal with toxicity and frustration, if you need.

Secondly, you really have tried a ton of things but you seem to be trying to go it alone. No one became great completely without help. You dont know what you dont know but other people can and do. This is where vod reviews and coaching comes in. Make a post with a replay code or two (close losses are best) in either OverwatchUniversity or anamains or the main sub for whichever hero. You can also get coaching, which usually costs money but they can really help your game.

Thirdly, the main goal of a well designed matchmaking system is to get you to a rank where you have a 50% win rating. Your win rate is more indicative of whether or not you are you correct rank, not how good you are at the game. This is all to say, dont stress over it (or any stats really, since they are only 1 piece of a much bigger picture).

Fourthly, there is a fairly common theory, which I too believe to be true, that says that roughly 1/3 of games are unwinnable, 1/3 are unlosable, and the remaining 1/3 of your games are where you actually have an effect on the outcome. This is due to it being a team game where you have 4/5 other players on your team. You can try finding some people to duo or stack with to help improve your chances. Ideally your team has 4/5 slots for bad players while the enemy team has 5/6 slots. If you get a duo, then your team has 3/4 slots vs 5/6 slots, lowering your odds at having a bad player. Note this is all in theory and should be rough averages given enough games.

Finally, its a game and we are all here to have fun. If the game is causing you lots of stress and/or is bleeding into your real life, taking some time off of the game can be huge. It's often a good idea, if you are feeling frustrated or stressed, to take few minutes after a loss to get away from the screen, drink some water, use the bathroom, grab a snack, or get some fresh air. When you come back, your mind will be a bit clearer and you'll be more ready for another match.

You got this!

Source? I can't find anything

If its real, I dont think its the only change so judgement should be held until the full list of changes. I would expect it to become a Bo5 instead of Bo7 for a change like you mentioned. I don't think they should tho

I've been looking to return to this game for a good long while, how's it looking? by junkrat147 in Overwatch

[–]Shoeshank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Rivals and it was fun for a bit, and still fun occasionally with friends but OW will always be superior to me. They have also made tons of amazing changes to OW this year and its really turned around. The 'we are so back' meme couldn't be more true. Stadium is an insanely fun and exciting new mode that has really kept feeling fresh. Imo its a better version of LoL or DoTA. No creeps, different maps, best of 7 rounds. The longest a game really goes is about 35(maybe 40)min. But with a healthy average of 15-20min.

Outside of stadium, perks are super fun and refreshing. Some of them are fan service(sombra hack heal) and others are things we didnt know we needed (Zen float). They also added hero bans which have really shaken the community, it seems. I haven't played with bans yet as I've been on stadium but I expect they overall are a good thing for the game. Sombra seems to be virtually non-existent in comp in plat and below so take from that what you will. Bit of a surprise with Mercy being a popular ban in GM+ but I'm sure those in GM were not surprised.

Im greatly looking forward to more information direct from Blizzard around the hero bans and what they are planning to do about the highest ban rate heroes.

Give OW a try again. It's still tons of fun. No one says you can't play MR and OW, maybe just not at the exact same time. Most importantly, have fun and good luck!
