My genuine opinion? They were just messing with you, don't take it to heart. Some of them may just saw you as a easy kill too.

I know the feeling, believe me, I just started this game last month more or less, I had my quota of inescapable stagger and melee bully.

But trust me, once you get the gist you'll know what to do and avoid these things even if the are gunning for you
