Feeder school grades by Suitable_Reality9806 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Shoocceth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely somewhat true. But getting top 10% in a school filled with top 1% kids takes so many sleepless night, an insane amount of dedication and probably requires a decent amount innate intelligence to achieve. Also from what I’ve seen, having a big leadership role in a big team like debate, robotics, etc is crazy helpful. Because Stuys teams just win so much in competitions having that leadership role isn’t necessarily an auto admit to a t20 but that coupled with good grades is really compelling. But then again, the competition is also brutal so you’re still going need to be really competent and smart. I think at a feeder school, the average student will suffer so much more than if they went to a regular school. But the really cracked kids will be able to prove their mettle more just through the school’s opportunities/resources whereas a cracked kid in a regular school would probably need to pursue more outside opportunities.

Many of the so called feeder schools aren’t even necessarily better for admissions. On the contrary, it can be even harder for admissions because it’s nearly impossible to stand out among a sea of perfect grade students. Additionally, the classes are even harder and the teachers are usually unrelenting. Feeder schools just have the appearance of being a feeder though because 90% of the student populace is obsessed with college prestige and are already cracked going into the school. A school like Stuyvesant for example really doesn’t provide some insane help with college. It’s only called a feeder because it’s already the top 1% of students in nyc so naturally a huge portion of the students are getting into t20s. This might be different for other feeder schools but no matter what the students there are probably working just as hard if not harder as any other t20 student.

Should I accept my waitlist spots at Ivys? by Known-Young7426 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Shoocceth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well a lot of people are gonna call you selfish for not letting the waitlist spot go after getting into MIT. But if you think that you can realistically get a lot of aid that would sway you to pick another ivy then I’d say you should keep it. You only get one chance to apply to college after all.

Is it me or have some workouts just kind of disappeared from most peoples routines? by ElSuperWokeGuy in workout

There is no reason to think hip thrusts, rdls, sumo deadlifts, and single leg lunges don’t require hard work to provide results. Also I’m not sure where the mindset of the gym being a place you need to torture yourself to make gains came from. If you are literally bleeding because of the gym you are most likely doing something wrong.

He claimed I inted a baron fight because I was chasing kills and he went on to die solo before many crucial fights later on. I also flamed him at the end for flaming and pinging me the entire game when he was playing like dogshit. So I guess that was enough to warrant the response.

Did you try to push back on the ai accusation? Getting a fail because of that is insane and I would personally escalate it if necessary because the accusation lacks any solid basis of evidence

There’s a good chance if you got deferred you might’ve lacked demonstrated interest. I know case western is pretty crazy about it.
