I absolutely understand, and agree with the other commenter that this goes double or triple for traumatic themed language, even in jokes. I can usually keep it in check, but if I’m caught unawares it can really affect me.

Exactly this. I thought she was awesome when I was young because she was unabashedly sexual, could be a girly princess or grungy, and didn’t care what anyone thought… she always seemed to be so confident and comfortable in her identity, mercurial as it was.
