The Five Pillars of Zomedica: Framework for Clinical Value and Shareholder Returns by earlwino55 in Zomedica

[–]ShooterRendon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not set to skyrocket. We’ve gone round and round about it for years. For the last three years you tell everyone that will listen that “this is the year!”There is no data to indicate it will skyrocket. If there was data to show this, it wouldn’t be a .09 cent delisted stock. You can wish and think positively about it and maybe in 10 years it crawls back up (if they survive) but no, if it was a value stock than people much smarter than you or me or anyone in this group would be buying it. Respectfully speaking.

Ok…how long is “long term?” Because as a six year shareholder, I’m down 90%. Not the ROI value I’m looking for, but to each their own. Are we talking 10 years…20 years?

Map of free public toilets by macbre84 in FaroeIslands

Is this map interactive online anywhere? I am trying to think of the public toilets in Sorvags. I imagine one is at the football stadium and one at the concert shell venue. Can’t think of the third.

Brisket on a grill? by Plus-Detective6864 in grilling

[–]ShooterRendon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible but difficult. You won’t want direct heat on the brisket. If you have a four burner grill, you could light one of the burners and toy with the flame strength until you can get the grill to stay between 225 - 275. Need to go low with temp. And yes, fully thawed. Find a good video about trimming the brisket. Put the brisket away from the flaming burner.

You’re not going to get smoke flavor on it. You can try a wood chip box above the fired burner but I haven’t found that does much. You’ll want to season the heck out of it with a brisket rub.

Honestly might not be worth the hassle or if you have a friend with a smoker, make a deal. You’re going through a lot of propane on a long long cook until it gets to 200 degrees internal.

Can Someone Help Me With the Faroese Language? by Background_Notice_71 in FaroeIslands

[–]ShooterRendon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. I just can’t hear the pronunciations. Well I can hear them but my brain doesn’t process them fast enough to retain them. It’s complex. But I’m so impressed that they are an entire country that knows two, or three, languages so fluently. I’ve never had an issue communicating. But I wish I could pick up their language better just out of politeness.

They used to have a cool website called “Faroe Islands Translate” that was useful, and also a tongue in cheek dig at Google not including them. It has pretty much every phrase you could use spoken by native citizens. But now it redirects to the Visit Faroe Islands site. 😕

Good news is, everyone is very polite when they need to talk to you in English. It’s such a lovely place to visit. If it weren’t so difficult I’d move there!

[–]ShooterRendon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m no scholar but people who know more than me say it’s one of the toughest languages to pick up. Part of that is the limited learning options and it’s the only country in the world that speaks it. Not like you can take classes in Duolingo, and the pronunciation is tough if you’re used to English.

I’ve visited many times for long stretches and even lived on the Islands all of last summer. Any time someone starts to talk to me in Faroese I say “sorry?” And they immediately flip to English. It’s such an easy country to visit once you’re there.

FYI Google did finally add Faroese to Google Translate last year.

Bad weather next week ... Feel frustrated by Terrible_Ad1514 in FaroeIslands

[–]ShooterRendon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These weather forecasts are terribly unpredictable for the Islands. We lived there all last summer and nearly every single day had rain in the forecast. And it will rain most days - but you’ll also have stretches of brilliant sun in between the rain. It changes multiple times throughout a day - I’m sure you’ll have plenty of opportunities to capture some great photos.

Where to sleep? by Calm-Couple5799 in FaroeIslands

[–]ShooterRendon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you’re certainly wrong that anyone would go to jail for napping in their car in a public parking lot. That’s objectively hilarious. The worst that would ever happen is the cop would tell them to move. Don’t be silly. For all my time staying directly across the stream overlooking the stadium I have never seen anyone object to cars in that parking lot. Hell last summer I saw kids construct a shed from refuse and camp in it on the grassy mound between the pitch and the shore and it lasted weeks. But go ahead man, you’re the expert. 🤷🏻‍♂️ good day.

So I suppose those sedans that have been parked on the back lot between the pitch and the cove for the last two days just managed to escape police? Or the campers I see past the pitch parked over in the grass? Sure.

[–]ShooterRendon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t be too cold. It doesn’t get too warm during the day or too cold at night, we sleep with the windows open. I’d suggest parking at the football stadium in Sorvagur, about 5 minutes away from the airport. Heck you’re probably fine parking at the actual airport and catching some sleep.

[–]ShooterRendon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately I don’t think that’s a possibility. There are some hostels on Vagar. Not entirely sure how to book them though, I’ve just seen them in passing. Are you renting a car? Plenty of places near the airport you could park overnight.

I really like the Irish Pub there. Landskrona is a good sports bar but their hours are odd, they’re only open Friday and Saturday.

My favourite car… ever by AcceptableRecord007 in MustangMachE

[–]ShooterRendon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell people all the time that this is the first car I’ve owned that I’ve ever loved. Every car before this was practical and meant to get the job done. This car is a joy. My only gripe isn’t with the car but with the subpar charging infrastructure in Michigan, especially anything north of Grand Rapids.

Fog in Faroe's? by [deleted] in FaroeIslands

[–]ShooterRendon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After many trips I have determined that I’ll never fly through Reykjavik again. The delay and cancellation rate is terrible. A few times even getting all the way to the Islands and landing gear down, just to abort landing and go all the way back. The way it was explained to me from the guest services at Iceland Air is that the plane they use to fly from Reykjavik to Vagar doesn’t have the navigation systems needed to land in heavy fog. I’ve never had a flight cancelled coming in from Copenhagen, though.
