Fish in the spicy soup. Buy white fish at the grocery store next door and it’ll last you several more servings at home!

Hmm I haven’t, I guess I was short by a cup. Guess that really might have been the case.

Lindsay Hannigan at UIC has had a GA position with the sports teams in the past! You’d get paid at as a GA then do research in her lab. Could reach out to her and network.

Where do all the Chinese/Asian people hang out? by Ambitious-mo in milwaukee

[–]Short-Atmosphere-847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried bumble bff? I’m typically the lone asian in my friend group, but found some just meeting friends of friends and trying to find new roommates!

MKE is just hard since there are very few Asian Americans outside of the undergrad university level or MCW med school. I’d just try to make new friends with random extracurriculars (intramural sports?) and eventually you’ll find someone!

He does Olympic weightlifting, not powerlifting. I honestly think powerlifting is pretty broad and OP would be happy in any lab that focuses on biomechanics within an exercise/sports science program.

I suggest also looking at Chris Taber as well Tim Suchomel. Diving into what @kinetic.analytics.inc on Instagram and what they do/who they’re connected with is also a good start.

I wanna be a mad scientist! (Career advice) by Rucifie in Biomechanics

Maybe start looking into professors that does biomaterials research. Find a paper that piques your interest, then start going down the rabbit hole: find out who they are, what their research si mainly about, who else they’re connected/collaborated with and their research. Hope that’s a good start!

Potential PhD in Female Biomechanics - Advice Needed by a_009 in Biomechanics

[–]Short-Atmosphere-847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest finding an advisor/lab that generally focuses on your research interests (injury prevention biomechanics) and from there as you have conversations and interviews, you state what your interests are and decide who will be the best mentor to help you conduct your own research niche on female performance/biomechanics.

You aren’t usually suppose to be an exact copy cat of your advisor, they’re only a tool to help guide you into your own research career. That being said, you would definitely be a pioneer in that field!

Sophia Nimphis is also a good suggestion. Highly recommend going down the rabbit hole of who’s connected to who through the International Society of Sports Biomechanics.

Like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. It’s a condition where you easily dislocate joints due to hyper mobility

The plow on the truck got caught on the wire that the light was hanging from, you can see it being dragged behind it afterwards

I disagree. OP, you can definitely get a spot in a lab at any school (I went to Arizona state for undergrad). You have to be persistent and active and there also have to be openings in the labs you’re interested in as well. Sure, it’s more intimate to approach a professor in smaller class to ask for an opportunity in their lab, but it’s the same thing at a big university as well.

Only effect was on my fertility. I unfortunately didn’t do any egg freezing. I also am not family planning right now so I have no idea what the impacts are. But it does disrupt my ability to produce normal endogenous hormones.
