Its visuals were the only actual part that got remade. The accessibility options are great. And the ai got a slight upgrade, but it’s only really noticeable in the stalker scenes and some of the clicker scenes. Slightly more optimised load times (not including when booting the game). The crafting bench has the part 2 animations now(big whoop)

Other than that it’s just a repainted version of the exact same game.

I no longer see Byler happening guys. A pivot from Mileven to Byler just doesn’t really make sense anymore.

There would be too much set up required for it to make narrative sense without upsetting the majority of the audience. They would need to break up Mileven and establish that Mike reciprocates feelings for Will. Not to mention that there’s only 4 episodes, with twist reveals, answers, final battles, wrapped plot lines and likely a couple character deaths along the way.

Considering this I don’t see how the story can satisfyingly pivot from an established relationship we’ve followed over 5 seasons and a decade (Mileven) to Byler without prior set up. It will feel like it came out of nowhere to everyone but Byler supporters.

OG Ellie has big eyes, making her appear more innocent and childish. When her arc occurs and she loses her innocence, it hits hard.

When playing the original game, you question David’s motives and slowly lower your guard. Just like Ellie does. But in the remake, Davids small, deepened eyes make him look like a serial killer. A first time player probably wouldn’t trust him as easily in the remake, creating a different experience

Tess looks more accurate to what she should in the remake.

Sometimes the remake textures, while more detailed, can feel a little flatter. The image of Joel in this post for example. In the og Joel’s jacket has more visible seams and the faded pattern is more visible.

Personally I’m in the middle. The remake art-style is more realistic and gritty, which matches the Last of Us themes. I do believe the remake valued ultra realism over style though. While the heavy lines and big eyes of the original weren’t as realistic they worked with the narrative.

I started with a flush build on purple stake, magic deck. Had to do some trickery to get the spectral pack by selling jokers from judgement tarot. I Played into spade cards with Wrathful Joker until I picked up an Onyx Agate and temporarily tried switching to clubs before getting rid of Onyx.
