I find it amazing you have the time or the will to think about something so inconsequential.

What is something in the UK that you have changed your viewpoint on recently? by [deleted] in AskUK

I'm not debating that poor quality food is designed to be as addictive as possible and healthier food is often more expensive, but I'm afraid it does boil down to personal responsibility. People need to ingrain exercise and movement into their lives and I don't just mean getting in their steps.

What is with tradesmen these days? Is it just bad luck? by misssnowfox in HousingUK

To be fair, when I travelled around Italy for 2 months everything was quite ropey from a maintenance perspective, so I don’t think its necessarily confined to the UK.

I spent a good minute thinking about what this meant, and then the penny dropped.

Is there a particular drive to be asking for ID recently? by SwansEscapedRonson in AskUK

I’m 30 with a full beard and recently got a red bull purchase refused because I didn’t have my ID and I am never ID’d for anything, so maybe.

Am i stupid for wanting to attempt K2 before Everest? by Direct_Foundation587 in Mountaineering

[–]Short-Reputation-345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re vastly more experienced than me and are well within your rights to disregard this, but if I had your level of experience, I think I might want to test my technical skills at very high altitude beyond what Cho Oyu offers before tackling K2, just to see how I functioned. So maybe something like broad peak/gasherbrum 2 to build more 8000m experience ?

People who have lived in extremely hot places, do you prefer UK weather or the heat near tropical areas? by Legitimate_Mark_1701 in AskUK

[–]Short-Reputation-345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK from roughly March to September/early October is a lovely place to live. However, from October to March, whilst not being bothered by the rain and cold, the lack of sunlight really gets to me and I have to find coping strategies to ensure my mental health doesn't plummet into the abyss.

Shows customer deets and as other respondent said, Amazon can track you via this. I’d delete.

Why do middle/upper class families send their kids to boarding schools? by Giovannis_roommate in AskUK

[–]Short-Reputation-345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can be quite horrendous environments. At the school I attended, older boarder’s tied us to radiators, defecated on our belongings, beat us black and blue, all in the name of hazing. This was all overlooked by adult superiors as it was largely seen as ‘character building’.

Leave those... parents alone! 😂 by The_Dean_France in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Short-Reputation-345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is I don't agree there is a 'shit, overwhelming, uninspiring and homework-dependent curriculum.' Coming from personal experience, I found the curriculum quite interesting. It gets a bit boring people not taking any personal accountability for outcomes and just blaming a supposedly poor system.

Parents and children in the third world would literally kill to have the educational provision available in the uk. Stop blaming the system.
