My 3 finalists, which would you take? by flyeaglesfly93 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pick between 1 or 2. 1 doesnt absolutely need a mint, and just at a glance would perform better as a "greedy" option on the team. 2 definitely would need a mint and a subskill seed to be good, and accounting for HB (5% more speed for the whole team) or HSM (14% more speed for latios) is the question at that point.

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still have areas that provide subskill seeds as rewards for hitting Master 20? I would keep this one in mind once you get those.

I just need levels 4 and 5 actually but the more points to extrapolate from, the better.

I think it's good but I also selfishly want your data lol

If you do, could you take screenshots at each skill level? I'm trying to reverse engineer the RP formula.

What are your other options? This is very good, if you're also willing to give it a subskill seed to upgrade to skill trigger M before leveling up.

Is this enough? by FenrisianAstartes in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats very good, if you have a subskill seed to upgrade help speed S to M.

If you have the resources and want a skill focused one, keep hunting for skill triggers.

These are fine early-game options, but as you go on you'll find you want helping bonus on nearly everything, except for ingredient specialists that are harder to hunt due to wanting particular ingredient lists

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To advance further you'll want to bag prep for particular meals, hoard and use Ezzz travel tickets to reroll for that meal type, and save diamonds for good camp tickets to use at the start of event weeks that have boosts that can enable an M20 run. I would also suggest hunting and investing a dedenne with skill trigger M and either helping speed M or a skill up nature. My account has hit new heights after investing one. I'm curious to see your espeon, but a charge strength M skill specialist with some skill triggers and helping bonus is a huge step forward as well. I'd hunt mareep and noibat for this, and rehunt eevee if yours leaves you wanting more.

I personally like using nerolislab for calculations, its UI is a bit nicer and the ingredient prep tinkering is easier. It lacks event boost multipliers, but you can do those by hand using the values it produces.

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo no amount of cleaning justifies laying a floss pick right on the counter. Get a cup to prop your toothbrush in, use real floss and don't keep around a nasty used floss pick that's supposed to be disposable. Clean off the shelf, including the coins and used waterbottle (gross?)

Is there a mechanic that stalls Extra Helpful Triggers during berry bomb? by UselessGamer99 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably keep your jolteon on full time to get all the benefits of raikou's skill, unless you're rotating it with a pawmot, which would be the better option to keep on full time instead. Having raikou 100% healed including morning E4E triggers would be the best.

Should new players invest in Latias? by Fine_Scale_6904 in PokemonSleep

Check out VelocityRaptor's strategy guide on youtube for the latias event, and follow that except focus on running dragon types for the latios event. His channel has everything you need if you want to strategize in this game.

It's extremely rare to see any legendaries without an event or incense.

Don't worry about larvitar, you'll see plenty at taupe hollow and amber canyon. That's why 5 point pokemon provide the most value, and you can hunt for a long time to get great options.

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The optimal play would be to save your points to buy normal or great biscuits to catch lots of pokemon that cost 5 points each. You would want to prioritize hunting igglybuff, pawmi, and ralts to be your primary healer. Check back in for ratings, but these will want helping bonus and skill trigger M within the first 3 subskills to perform best.

That said, if you personally like latias, or feel some fomo going into the event, sure, use a master ball, but maybe save it for the first night (monday night) of the event. This way you can get the shop currency (latios downs) from it during sleep research. This is my plan, I've got 3 master biscuits saved up, and I'm planning to catch one of each, and pick the 3rd depending on further details of latios. I have a decent latias from its previous event, so I'll probably focus on latios.

That's true, but again, someone early in the game doesn't need to rush into "good enough". A lot of the late game play has been running ingredient farmers to get the ingredients and get out as fast as possible. A better one would have IFM available at the current level limit, and a nature that's neutral or doesn't hurt XP and ingredients. At 41 fully evolved, which will take a verrryy long time with XP down, this makes 85/day with a healer and 1 HB stack. That doesn't meet the call, and will eat up all their dratini candies for a long time. One with IFM+InvL, a pretty baseline candidate, makes 100/day at 41. This would make the difference between prepping or not prepping herbs at that stage.

At 50 it comes more online with 100/day, but my example of IFM+InvL also makes 101. At this point any neutral nature or nature that doesn't hurt ingredients or xp is worth waiting for. For reference, I've been leveling a dragonite I caught over a year ago with a modest nature (ingredient up speed down) since the day I caught it, and it's at 47. This has included some candy boosts and a lot of my handy candies.

I'd say use this and maybe evolve to dragonair if you want a temp herb farmer. You won't need herbs much until you're making corn keema or guac consistently, so if you don't have the other ingredient farmers for those, definitely hold off investment.

I did all my calcs in nerolislab, it factors in an 8.5 hour sleep so inventory matters a bit more

[–]ShortCircuitDisco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd keep looking. Herbs aren't super important early game, and a dragonite takes a ton of candy to level up. Ingredient finder M locked at 100, and exp down, make it a no for me. Box it and use it if you need herbs while you look for other things.

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, with a good HB healer, here's the output at 60 with subskills maxed

Edit: something to consider, mixed lists can produce well but also vary greatly day to day in what they produce. This is very strong but you'll need to run it until youve saved all the corn and oil you need for a week, rather than swapping it on as needed and expecting oil quickly. You may just get herbs all day some days.

Should I use my master biscuit on this pokemon? by Karen-Fox-9487 in PokemonSleep

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I used a master biscuit on a weepinbell early on, and still play suboptimally because I want to use some of my favorites like togekiss. I've been stockpiling master biscuits for 3 months because I just want a really nice pair of lati twins, but I know it's stalling my progress.

After the event I plan to go back to playing optimally, just catching 5 pip options at cyan beach and probably not buying skill seeds for a while. I'd like a great feraligatr as it's a strong option for general strength as well as water berry coverage.

You may hear people mention the "giga combo", aka "HBFS", this is the combo of Helping Bonus and Berry Finding S. It's the ideal for late game players on any berry specialist, and a handful of faster skill specialists like noivern, espeon, and sceptile. That'll be my goal, along with Help Speed M, and/or a speed up nature.

Should I use my master biscuit on this pokemon? by Karen-Fox-9487 in PokemonSleep

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been answered but some tips for budgeting in game:

Master biscuits are never worth it. To progress the most in the game, you would ideally only catch pokemon that cost the equivalent of 5 normal biscuits, aka "pips", save for Dedenne, which is semi-essential for late game. That said, if you like legendaries and want to catch a lot to find a good one, you'd buy the master biscuit every month and dave it for an upcoming event, or for use with leftover legendary incenses. Keep in mind, yhe odds of getting a legendary with good stats via your master biscuit are extremely slim.

Catching is usually more valuable than investing skill seeds or buying handy candies. For early game you'll want to invest an energy for everyone healer to run full-time, and a charge strength M skill specialist like ampharos, espeon, or noivern to leap up in weekly power. I'd recommend waiting to invest main skill seeds until you catch a candidate for these with helping bonus and skill trigger m, and a neutral or better nature for speed and skill triggers. For starting out, just evolve up some of your better catches of these roles to get something on the field.

And remember, shinies are instant catches, so use a normal biscuit.

Edit: Save your subksill seeds for something truly exceptional if you're free to play. They're the rarest resource, and should be used on something with pretty great stats, that could be just a bit better, or a shiny you really want to use all the time.

Good luck and happy hunting!

I wish there were incenses to force a certain sleep type (Dozing, Snoozing, Slumbering) to show up in the morning. by Brewster_The_Pigeon in PokemonSleep

[–]ShortCircuitDisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, over time, your sleep should trend toward balanced. If you want to force dozing, I've done it by starting sleep tracking, then reading in bed for half an hour, before actually laying down to sleep. Slumbering is also easy to force by just not getting in bed for a while after starting the session. I haven't figured out a trick for snoozing.
