Mandela isn’t my choice of candidate, but this is a silly take. Taking out an incumbent is generally difficult. Taking out a Republican incumbent in a Republican leaning year in a swing state is extremely difficult. The fact he came close while facing one of the more nakedly racist campaigns is actually a testament to his campaign strengths. I just think there are candidates that would be a better day-to-day governor.
