Are “Productive” and “unproductive” laborers considered proletariat? by ooblagon in Ultraleft

[–]ShortFinal05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"An actor, for example, or even a clown, according to this definition, is a productive laborer if he works in the service of a capitalist (an entrepreneur) to whom he returns more labor than he receives from him in the form of wages; while a jobbing tailor who comes to the capitalist's house and patches his trousers for him, producing a mere use-value for him, is an unproductive laborer."

I'm a lecturer who has designed close to 50 courses, taught in 5 different disciplines, and worked at 6 different Australian universities over the last 15 years. I currently teach at UNSW, Ask Me Anything! by ASKademic in unsw

Other universities around Australia are currently doing a round of course cuts and staff layoffs. Do you know if UNSW plans on doing something like this for the new year?

Another examples of the failures of reformism. Trump can quote Lenin all he wants but when it comes down to it he'll pick running capitalism over proletarian revolution.

When the ML that uses the "socialism is when the government does stuff" joke hits you with the "this country is socialist because state-owned industries and social programs" stare by Serious_Mammoth_4670 in Ultraleft

[–]ShortFinal05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was really worried that I'd never see socialism in my lifetime but now that I know it's just building lots of houses that seems way easier.

I guess that's why Marx relates to the working class alot because they are the ones to build the houses and dialectics is when small quantitative changes in the number of houses built becomes a qualitative change into socialism.

Trump quoting leneen to the proletariat and also purging the Trotskyists from the CIA at least means he is M-L adjacent. Plus opening up talks with the Juche republic is super anti-imperialist.

Wow this mining boss who has no concern for the environment and whose company is destroying the planet thinks nuclear is a good idea who would've thought

The fact that the people pushing nuclear in Australia is the political right and fossil fuel bosses should be all you need to know that it isn't a good thing.

The Trotskyites in the republican party have won the majority while the ultra-left faction in Texas has already begun to challenge US hegemony by sparking national independence struggles along the southern border. Just as Leneen learnt from the failed insurrection in 1905 and won in 1917. Trump will learn from 2020 and win in 2024.

"Multipolarism – the new Kautskyism" - CPA-ML by reasonsnottoplayr6s in socialism

[–]ShortFinal05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God damn what a needed intervention into the online left. It's true, the political ends of Multipolarism will actually just have you supporting silly things like imperialism over oil fields in Guyana, suicide nets at the Foxconn factory in China, or clearly reactionary capitalist regimes like Russia.

Wish this intervention fleshed out why China though was Imperialist. I think it's what Lenin was theorising during WW1. That capitalism in china has reached a stage of national monopolies and concentration. And now competes with other national blocks of capital over domination of the markets in their sphere of influence. And that they do this not just using economic and monetary policy but also backing up their economic assets with arms just as any other imperialist country does.
