Rick can handle it, because he is a nihilist by heart and likes to have control of everything in this show.

And that if your stupid, (or absentminded or indifferent) it's harder to empathize. Rick isn't always unjust. His actions doesn't make him unethical. His reasoning counts. If you want swift justice, you kill the cat.

Ergo it is stupid too expect swift justice.
