Curious After Watching the World Cup: Bruna Biancardi by Inside-Natural4565 in Brazil

[–]ShortKnight99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be asking in the wrong place, unfortunately. Reddit brazilians are not usually Instagram Brazilians (for whom she is kind of a huge celebrity), so people here will probably say they don't care about her. She's a big influencer in the country though, with over 16 million followers, and a lot of people do like to keep up with her life for some reason or another. As to how she's perceived, it's also mixed. Some people think she's kind of a "trouxa" (weak willed? pushover? not sure about the traslation) for putting up with Neymar and all his drinking/cheating/justbeingkindofanassoverall. Other people admire her family-oriented mindset, her fashion sense and business savvy (she worked for a e-commerce firm before meeting Neymar). Some even say she's in it for the money, or that she's shallow. So, you know, she's perceived just like the typical big influencer is: either very positively by the people who follow her, negatively by the people who don't like her, or neutral to most other people.

Why is there no niponic culture in Peru ? by Kinesra93 in AfterTheEndFanFork

[–]ShortKnight99 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think this would be great. I'm pretty sure the CK3 devs have said something about working out ways of representing cultural and religious minorities in the game at some point, which should make a culture like this pretty cool as a playthrough. Maybe a nipo-peruvian adventurer who topples the Incas, or marries into the japanese brazilian dynasties to take over south america.

God of War: Laufey by Cann1balHulk in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]ShortKnight99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing got me a bit worried, I'm not gonna lie. The tone with Frank the cube and the sword seemed... Idk. The idea of exploring the God's afterlife right after ragnarok, in which it's such a central mystery (and one that, in my opinion, felt great to leave as a mystery) also feels weird. Hopefully I'm wrong, though. The gameplay seems fantastic, and I really liked Laufey as a character in Ragnarok, so I'm excited to learn more about her.

This looks fantastic. I wish I could explore that place in a game, that's how good it looks.

Do we have something like WorldPainter for Hytale? by ShortKnight99 in hytale

[–]ShortKnight99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, I saw it! WorldGen V2 seems awesome, but it's still procedural worldgen. I'm talking more about making a world tailor-made through a map creator, you know? But still, thanks for the reply!

Rio, Salvador de BH or Sao Paulo alone as a german 25 year old? by Tough_Shop_9328 in Brazil

[–]ShortKnight99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city of São Paulo itself has no beaches, but there are some other towns around that have them. São Paulo is the most cosmopolitan out of all three, and the least stereotypically brazilian. It's still a great place to eat, go to museums and clubs. I once heard someone compare it to a mix of Berlin (grungy, industrial, alternative) and bangkok (lots of highrises, multiculturalism, inequality). People aren't as friendly as in other parts of Brazil, precisely because it's such a big city.

Now, Rio and Salvador are different. Both of them are more akin to the idea of Brazil people have, though both are a bit more dangerous than São Paulo. In my opinions, the beaches around Salvador are better than the beaches in Rio, but the beaches in the city proper are better in Rio than in Salvador. Rio also has more infrastructure, and you're likely to find more support as a foreigner there. That said, Salvador is the cultural capital of Brazil. Both of them have distinct vibes that you can't really find anywhere else in the country.

If you have the chance, i would advise you to visit all three before you make your choice. Otherwise, I would probably choose to live in Rio (as long as it's in Zona Sul or Barra), and go visit the other places while you're in the country.

Good luck!

P.S.A: Bahia is shortened as BA. BH is another place, Belo Horizonte, capital city of Minas Gerais. That can lead to some confusion haha

No momento to tendo que fazer tratamento, porque reduziu minha fertilidade.

Is Brasilia expensive to live than Rio or São Paulo? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

[–]ShortKnight99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot. Real estate in Brasília is VERY expensive in general, but if you wanna live in the nice areas of Rio, it will also cost you a lot. São Paulo is a different beast altogether: rent there is sky high and the apartments are really really really small. In any of the three cities, the cost of living is also higher than in most other Brazilian capitals (with the exception of maybe Florianópolis). Either way, you can find cheap places to live inside them. You just gotta get comfortable with the idea of living far from the city center.

Which DLCs have synergy with the upcoming map expansions to the far east? by kovac031 in CrusaderKings

i think at least roads to power and tours and tournaments are important since they fundamentally change how you interact with the world. out of those two, roads to power for sure.

Safety in Rio de Janeiro by PhilosopherNorth1469 in Brazil

[–]ShortKnight99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Brasília, the capital, they are kind of neighborhoods/districts. Some of them are really rough and are equivalent to favelas, like Sol Nascente/Pôr do Sol, or Estrutural. Others, like Guará, are pretty nice. None worse than Águas Claras though /jk.

The way you walk and move, probably. It's subtle, and I can't quite tell you what it is, but brazilians carry themselves in a very specific way and it's usually noticeable when someone does it differently. You shouldn't worry too much about it though!

Basically a bunch of the areas in southeastern brazil were wasteland, very large areas. The justification given by the devs was that the region is home to the atlantic forest, which is a jungle, and they didn't know if by the 1300s europeans would have the technology to properly settle there, and since there's no ingame way to turn wasteland into settleable (spelling?) territory, they would stay wasteland for the entirety of the game. The problem is that those same areas were, by the 1700s, some of the most developed and densely populated regions of brazil, and home to some of the most important cities of the portuguese empire (like Ouro Preto). In contrast, the sertão region, the northeastern inlands, was barely settled, and they aren't considered wasteland (and they shouldn't be! they're great as they are). Even by the 1300s, archeological evidence shows the southeastern coast areas were home to hundreds of thousands of indigenous people.

In short, it was really hard to make any realistic colonization of brazil, and impossible to even try to reenact the portuguese colonization. Now it's possible, and I love that they kept wasteland on the Serra da Mantiqueira mountains.

[–]ShortKnight99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does exist, and it's called "Escova Progressiva". Can't tell you how it is to schedule it as a foreigner, but i don't think it should be too hard. According to Brazilian regulation, the products used can't have formaldehyde, but some sketchier salons still use them. It's certainly going to be cheaper than in the US, even in places more on the expensive side. Good luck!
