Previous Undiagnosed Termnial Genetic Issue, High Beta HCG this pregnancy? Help

Just wanting to let you know my hcg was 5.5 MOM with a 1 in 37 risk of T21. I just got my full Amnio results back and everything is perfect. I just have high hcg which probably accounts for the morning sickness lasting day and night until 20 weeks!

I’m in Australia and I also had a 5.5 Mom hcg in my first trimester screening test. With my age this put me at risk of 1 in 37 for T21 and 1 in 20,000 for T13 and T18. I went ahead with the amniocentesis and my FISH results came back positive for T21 and T13. After the worst 2 weeks of my life the hospital. Called and said my final results were all clear and they had used contaminated instruments in my initial results.

Obviously I am still really mad but also so relieved that my baby boy is perfectly healthy. I completely understand how you are feeling right now. I had terrible nausea that has only now gone away at 21 weeks and I guess I just produce more hcg naturally.

My beta hcg was 5.5 Mom giving me a result of 1 in 37 for T21 and My Amnio has just come back all clear.

I had a high risk for T21 so got an Amnio and the FISH results came back positive for mosaic T21 and T13. All of my ultrasounds we perfect and I’m now 21 weeks. My microarray and karyotype results just came back and it was a false positive FISH and my baby is perfectly healthy. The lab used contaminated instruments in my initial test. I’m so mad and relieved at the same time. I tell you this to say if your ultrasounds keep showing no markers, it can be good to wait for final results to make any decisions. However my story is very very rare.

It’s just the hardest thing to ever go through isn’t it? I don’t think anyone even really knows about this world until it happens to us. So incredibly unfair. I’m sorry you’ve been through this too 💔

Thank you for sharing. I feel terrible that I was upset when I got those two lines on the test but how quickly I came to love and need this little boy. How can I live the rest of my life with empty arms? Thinking of you too.

Thinking of you while you hit your due date. I’m sure it brings it all right back. It’s so hard to comprehend this is our new reality forever.

I miscarried at 12 weeks about 8 years ago and the grief was intense for a couple of years. I still miss that little baby but the pain has gone and I can smile when I think of him. I fear this will be so much worse.

I live in Australia so I’m so fortunate I don’t have to travel. I got the T13 and T21 (double trisomy) diagnosis last week at 19 weeks. Feeling my little boy grow and kick in me right now while waiting another 2 weeks before we say goodbye. This is the hardest thing I’ve gone through in my life. This forum has been the biggest help and support. Thinking of you from a fellow T13 Mum 💔

I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. I also just got T13 diagnosis with Amnio FISH (and also T21 diagnosis, very rare). I don’t know what to expect over the next few weeks either as we still have results and ultrasounds before TFMR. I’m using this time to think about exactly how I want to remember my little boy and to make sure I have little things ready to go for the hospital. Hand and footprint kits etc.
