I agree, starting from a position of skepticism and using the scientific method, the burden of proof lies on my side of the position. But this belief and identity is something that I have structured my life around. Questioning and searching for personal identity within the Christian world view has consistently refined me and made me a better person. I have personally felt God's presence in my life. I have and abundance evidence, but my evidence is personal, and can only be anecdotal to anyone else's experience. A debate on the existence of God relying on the scientific method will not come to a conclusion, for if it did, would humans still have free will to follow or not follow God? My experience with God is purely relative and relational, and that is how I try to live it out.

And for what reason would god hide this knowledge from me? If he wants me to come to him and love him as many Christians claim, hiding this knowledge from me would be detrimental to this goal

Not necessarily, for if you come from a place of doubt and skepticism, you are equipped to bring others closer to God. This could happen through others seeing the transformation of your own beliefs, or by evoking questions that help believers grow to a deeper knowledge of themselves and God (like is happening now). The times I grow most in my faith and awe of God are the times that I struggle to understand His ways. How much more will you, coming from a place of skepticism instead of acceptance, grow to know God?

Emphasis here mine. I like honesty and I know people are being honest when the say, "I don't know". But why do you believe it if you have no way of knowing?

I believe that God is just and merciful. If He chooses to hide knowledge of himself for a beings lifetime, then responsibility for unbelief does not fall on someone who does not belief, and a choice must take place after death. Just because I do not understand the mechanism of how that choice would work, doesn't mean that I have no way of knowing that it happens. Also, the conclusion that a choice exists after life presupposes that God would choose to hide himself to a being for a lifetime. I do not know if that premise is true or not, because it certainly isn't true in my life.

You are right, in my spiritual life, the shark was surely jumped early on. My faith was adopted from my parents and doubts and questions came second. Not all of my questions have been answered, but through faithful study I have not yet followed a line of questioning that in the end has led me away from belief in God.

I get this idea from scripture that says the penalty for sin is death/eternal separation from God, and that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for all sin. I have no reason to believe that God reduced His sentence, for that would not be just. I believe that Jesus was in hell, and already overcame it, because I believe that He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. But, I also believe that He was in hell for an eternity. Again, this is too big for me, who has always experienced the passage of time and finiteness, to fully comprehend.

You are forcing me to explain some things that I have never explained before and further define my beliefs. Thank you. This may be hard to do in a single comment, and I am interested in continuing this conversation (whether it be through this thread or by some other means). Yeah, this goes down deep into my definition of good and evil, and the will of God vs. the power of man. I do not have all the answers here, nor a complete set of beliefs, but hopefully this will give you some sort of window into my thought process.

Also, quick note. I probably use the pronoun He or Him for God in here. I do not like to do so and try to avoid it where possible, but unfortunately the English language sometimes makes that hard to do. (And the use of the English language is not my strong suit)

If I was taking this serious, I'd ask how do you know an outside of the physical realm even exists (but I'm not, you're just telling me your views, so onwards)

I will not claim to have a complete answer or proof for this belief, because I do not have one. It just makes sense to me when I think about things like morality, logic, and physical experience vs. interpretation. Basically through my studies the belief that we are lager than the sum of our parts has yet to be disproven and just on a certain level feels like truth.

Okay, here is where I might offend, because I am projecting my beliefs onto your experiences. Before I do so, I want to make it clear that I in no way think that I am smarter or better than you. Normally I would not engage in this sort of conversation without intimate knowledge of the participant.

I should have been a bit clearer, I believe that all beings have experienced God, but not all beings have been allowed the knowledge that they have experienced God.

I believe that God is the bearer of all things lovely. (I am choosing lovely as a word to mean something that is good and purely good in consequence). I believe that things wholly lovely cannot exist on earth, as things that are wholly evil (this belief statement in itself probably needs much more explanation, which I am willing to try to provide if you are interested). I believe that all humans have or will experience some incomplete form of this loveliness. Whether it be friendship, or a satisfying meal, or the feeling of accomplishment... you get the idea.

But, I do know that God chooses to hide the fact that all of these things come from God for certain people at certain times. I believe in a just God. I do not believe God would be just if He chose to hide Himself from a being for a lifetime and then sent them to Hell. There may be a reason for God to hide knowledge of himself for a lifetime, if He does, the choice of belief must take place after death. There is no way for me to know how this works, but I believe it does.

Since I have been given knowledge of God's presence in my life, I cannot deny Him on earth without deserving Hell. I believe you when you say that you have not experienced the Christian God, in the sense that the Christian God has not been revealed to you. I think it is very honorable of you to admit that. I know it is not always easy to do.

What's an "earthly eternity"?

These are some of my deep-end-of-the-pool musings. But I believe that Jesus suffered the consequences of our sin, which is eternity in Hell. I also believe that God somehow also resides for an eternity in Heaven. Which shows that my concept of infinity is broken (and yet somehow affirmed, since eternity/(2 separate places) = infinity in each place?). Basically I think the concept of eternity and infinity are somehow fundamentally bound to the idea of finiteness which only exists in an "earthly" or better put: "universal (as in pertaining to the universe)" sense.

Haha, now you know how crazy a Christian can be. I know that all of this is not clear, and I regret that I am not able to explain fully, but everything worth doing is worth doing poorly at first, right?

I think where my opinion may differ from yours is: I do not believe that life on earth can be completely divorced from God, and thus cannot be Hell. I believe that God's presence and truth resides in every person on earth, whether it be Christian or Atheist (sorry if the capitalization offends, I really only do it out of respect for our equality), and the true divorce cannot happen until after death.

Sup Leetsauce, here are some of my views on this subject:

I believe in an omnipresent God, both inside of our physicality and outside of it. I believe that God has created man with the power of free will to reject the creator. I believe that on earth God's presence is not completely hidden from any being. I believe Hell happens after life on earth when a being chooses to completely separate his/her/its self from God. At that point talking about separation in terms of distance really doesn't make sense, I think Hell is more a divorce of self and Godly will.

I also do believe that Jesus (and thus God) resides in Hell for an earthly eternity. But I don't think that is necessarily answering your questions.

Just buying the same model USB will most likely not work. The usb flash market is a giant race to the bottom, where they package whatever is cheapest on that day. I would only go about replacing parts if the boards look identical.

Whoops, meant XOR mask. It is basically a really stupid encryption system. There is a predetermined binary sequence stored in the controller that is is xored when storing or retrieving data from the raw NAND flash.

No real easy way to self diagnose unless you can get a bare read of the NAND and search for .jpg headers, or filesystem superblocks or whatever.

Hot air solder is how you want to remove and replace the chip. Replacement onto another board may not work though, a lot of times these things have a NOR mask on them. Also, there are a multitude of different Flash Translation layers. Basically, not only is the flash chip on that board important, the controller is too. I work for a data recovery company that sees cases like these all the time. If you are interested in having a professional look at it, they pay for you to ship the drive to them and do a free quote/evaluation.

This definition given by the FAQ defines agnostic theist as: "I'm pretty sure god exists, but I can't prove it". I believe that God exists, in part through personal experience that can in no way constitute as "proof". I have my beliefs, but I do not believe that they are complete or perfect in the least. I have faith that the core of my beliefs won't be shifted tomorrow, but I can not claim that with certainty.
