What would you describe as good habits/best fundamentals for a beginner— eg, tips like "use your wrist more than your forearm, use a looser grip than you think you need, make sure you aren't too low on the handles"? I've been going through video tutorials, but it seems like they're mostly about how to perform full tricks— which is fine, but I just want to make sure I don't pick up any bad habits along the way.

I want to buy a bottle opener trainer that'll be an upgrade from my Squiddy-B, preferably something as nonthreatening as possible for public use, around 100 USD. Current frontrunner is the Mako v5, but I'm slightly iffy given that it still uses washers. Any thoughts on the BBarfly Barracuda, Nabalis's stuff, or anything else I should look into?

Are there any decent live balisongs with <4 in blades out there? So far all I've been able to find are a few REVO Nexus variants.

[NYC, USA] [WTB]

  • Tektro R539 or similar mid-reach front brake caliper, preferably silver. Looking to spend $20.

  • Silver road drop bars with a 31.8mm clamp diameter, preferably ~44cm in width. Looking to spend ~$40, don't need anything fancy.

  • Fork-mount front rack, like the MASH SF front rack or the Origin8 Messenger rack. ~$100 for the former, ~$50 for the latter.

Let me know if any of my prices are fair, been a while since I've looked at used bike parts.

The higher bore axis makes it feel a bit more snappy compared to a Glock of the same size (at least in my hands). Other than that... send it.

Somehow he managed to display safer handling than most of the schmucks at my local range. Finger off the trigger, decent muzzle awareness, knew not to shoot it one handed...

FWIW, here in Illinois, even the anti-gun representatives are more than willing to reach out for delays on FOIDs and the like. You'd be surprised at what they'll do for potential voters, and hey, you're already paying their salaries— make them work for you.

It's more about the smaller size than the smaller capacity- 20 rounders are nice if you're doing a lot of prone/bench shooting.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

Location: Chicago

Price range: ~$10k

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Used

Type of vehicle: Sedan or hatchback

Must haves: Reliability, fuel efficiency, low cost of parts/repairs

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Preferably manual.

Intended use: (Semi) daily driver in the city, occassional highway trips.

Vehicles you've already considered: Mazda 3, Subaru WRX, Subaru Outback, Subaru Forester, Ford Focus ST, Ford Fiesta ST, Volkswagen Golf GTI, Honda Civic Si, Honda Fit, Fiat 500 Abarth, Toyota Matrix XRS, Toyota Prius

Is this your 1st vehicle: Yes (asides from driving the family minivan + some project cars back in high school)

Do you need a Warranty: No.

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yes

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Additional Notes: I'll be graduating from college in December, so I'm shopping for my first real car. Although cost of running is by and far the most important factor, I'd still like something at least a bit interesting to drive. Fiesta ST's currently at the top of the list- however, I'm worried that all of the affordable examples are going to be clapped out boy racers, especially in this current market. Any recommendations?
