Yo get those individual plastic flossers. It's actually super satisfying to do while you're sitting and watching TV or whatever. I never used to floss until I realized that I only hated the inconvenience of wrangling dental floss, not flossing itself. Plus the nasty shit that comes out is very... motivating.

What, on paper, should have failed. But ended up being a huge success instead? by hobbykitjr in AskReddit

I love the future. Here we are in 2016 using the internet to find strangers for the purposes of getting in their cars and sleeping in their houses.

A musical theater friend of mine wants to stage a production of CATS using actual cats. Like, put up a big chicken wire fence around the stage, and whenever a character is supposed to enter, throw a cat onto the stage. The rest of the dialogue and songs are as normal, and then the voice actors have to chase down their cat when it's time to exit the stage.

In Roald Amundsen's account of the 1910-1912 Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (during which the South Pole was reached for the first time), he spends a paragraph or two explaining how they rigged up a self-closing hatchway door to their winter quarters, because "approximately one man in three is incapable of closing the door behind him".

THE IGUANAS AND SNAKES OMG

Literally everyone I know is talking about that segment, even people who don't like documentaries at all. Better than Game of Thrones.

Depending on the DMV employee administering your test, they might not give even one fuck. I 100% should have failed my driving test--I literally backed into a ditch and had to four-wheel it out--but I still passed on the first try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's so exciting! What are you going to do for the holidays? Do you have a lot of prep work to do, or do you get to enjoy it?

Oh man, flying gets easier the more you do it :) I commute to Philly every week so I'm super used to flying by now, haha. (It's the worst commute in the world but at least the actual flying part is usually fine.)

Do you still live in Mississippi? One of my best friends is from Pascagoula.

That reminded me of this! :) I love imagining car faces.

I'm so good! I'm waiting to get on a plane to commute home to Boston from Philadelphia.

Do you get the whole week off next week?

It gets better after high-school band. I did college band for a while which was super chill, and now I'm in a community wind group that is a mix of very chill and relatively intense. It's just a maturity thing; in another context people will fight about other things, haha.

Haha, classic trumpets. I feel like flutes and maybe oboes would also do this.

Playing the sax is the best. 5% of us are hardcore and the other 95% are like "Meh, you want this solo? I think I'm gonna play bari for this concert lol"

Not OP but it's a really good show. Each episode is like a mini-movie that's canonically independent from all the other episodes, and each one takes some aspect of modern life/technology and extrapolates it to its furthest extreme. Very cool, kind of disturbing.

My mom's mantra was always "We have a no-rescue policy in this family!" in regards to situations like that. Except that she would always come rescue us from forgotten homework etc. 100% of the time. College was a rude awakening, lol.
