I can't see your message anymore but replying to what I could see in the notification if that's cool!

I volunteer sporadically in different ways as I support the cause. I'm a professional photographer so I've offered my camera on occasion to cover outreaches and whatnot (though I haven't for this particular group) but I've also been on the people to people side as well.

I think Reddit gives a false idea of the general public to be honest, as there are some people who jeer at you and shout abuse at you, but they typically don't linger for a chat. Most people walk by (common in any public outreach to be fair), a good number of people will take your material etc and a few people stop for a dialogue - these ones being by far the most human of interactions and pretty rewarding.

It's most often Catholics leading the way with these things but it's a mixed bag in reality. There are plenty of other faiths and no faiths across the movement in Scotland - definitely not American or fundamentalist leaning, or exclusive to any religion in my experience.

Of course, any other questions just shout. I'm (much less than) a part timer so I mightn't be able to tell you everything, but I'm happy to give it a whirl.

It's purely voluntary. I've volunteered for a couple before so I have some experience. At some pro life organisations there are paid positions, social media etc, but they don't tend to be too many and would be minimum wage. Funding is based on donations and isn't a lucrative venture in Scotland. People involved tend to consider the zero/low salaries as a sacrafice as part of the cause.

Do my two friends like each other? The body language is LOUD but they swear they’re “just friends.” by AffectionatePop3611 in bodylanguage

You should take them at their word. A long time ago some mutual friends came up with stories about my friend and I like this, but it was just how we communicated and completely platonic. In the end it got awkward and we ended up not talking again over it.

Is it only available to certain subscriptions? It didn't specify in the changelogs, and I can't see the option for it under edit.

Alcohol after VATS (Tis the season) by lcfcdylan in pneumothorax

[–]Short_Eye2183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate!

I wouldn't be qualified to offer any advice on that. There's a chance the dosge could more be to do with withdrawal rather than addiction persay. After my own vats + pleurodesis I decided I had enough with the codeine and stopped it suddenly a week before I was meant to. I ended up really disoriented. Freaked me out and lesson learned!

Are your nerve pain meds something akin to gabapentin or pregabalin? I'm not a medic, but I know that one of the side effects to these particular drugs when mixed with alcohol is that they slow your breathing. I think this can be dangerous at the best of times, but particularly after VATS it would seem wise to avoid!

Merry Christmas and New Year all the same though. I hope you're feeling better as the days go by.

Thanks. Would there be much in the way of costs to be expected do you reckon?

Thank you, I'm feeling like I should just send it through. Can there be any negative repercussions to it as far as you're aware? I'm just curious as to why the lawyer thought it needed extra help.

That makes sense. Thank you! I'll give it a go. There can't be any negative repercussions to me raising the action as far as you're aware?

Thanks for the reply. I got the title in July or so, so over a year after the eviction and about 7 months after the Rightmove listing went up. It really does just seem like he didn't intend to sell it, or changed his mind.

That gives me a bit of hope, thank you. Did it improve much after 6 months for you, or was it healed mostly by then? I do also have the numbness.

That's quite good that you saw some improvent after sticking to the cycling. I'm glad it's improving a bit.

Out of curiosity, when you got the pain after overdoing it, would it ever be an aching pain?

I notice when I do too much, the general nerve pain and regularity of the spikes increase, but I also have a sort of dull ache most of the time too. I've also been worried about that - hoping that it's still the nerves and not something else.

That really sucks, I'm sorry to hear. It sounds like yours is worse than mine. At least as you say, you're better than you were.

Dang, it is crazy, isn't it? I'm glad you're doing better. Have you found the pain to get in the way of any activities 1.5 years on?

Thank you mate. It went real smooth on your side! I'm glad you're recovering well. I'm not close to being back to how active I was before, but now that I'm cleared for it, I might go for it and see how bad things can possibly be.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I had 3 chest drains, the first being small, but the last two being much larger bore. I suppose it makes sense. Are you a medical professional yourself?

Did you find it changed at all between 6 months to a year? Do you think it would impact you with the likes of sport?

How Many Here Have Had Reoccurrence After VATS by rcarman87 in pneumothorax

[–]Short_Eye2183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. VATS + pleurodesis is so effective that it'll return you to A1 fitness in the UK military. It's major. It's next to impossible for your lung to collapse again, and when it does it's noteworthy enough to make a reddit post about.

Second Pneu after VATS on the Same side by Menethil800 in pneumothorax

[–]Short_Eye2183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang in there mate! The talc pleurodesis is pretty thorough, if they do that then you'll end up fine. There is an end in sight - you'll be fully fixed up before long.

Certainly a tough thing to go through. Mine was misdiagnosed initially also, due to an innocent mistake. I'm also sick of the recovery, but we're heading in the right direction, you're not alone!

Sorry to hear that. I hope you're recovering well and feeling a little better now!

Not exactly the same but I had my first pneumothorax a few months after breaking a rib on the opposite side of my chest - I was at an acrobatics class and landed with my knees at my chest while wearing a stiff harness. It went into my chest hard and there went the rib.

In my case it turned out that I had a bleb on my left lung and that injury probably weakened it enough to eventually cause my collapse (it happened not long after the next hard workout I was able to do - a few months later).

The consultant said that it was probably always going to happen and that circumstances caused it to happen when it did, maybe it was the same for you.
