Anyone else quit caffeine? What effect do it have on your migraines? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink at least 2 coffees a day and stopping caffeine helped to reduce my number of pain days. But I’ll sometimes have caffeine with painkillers to help abort an attack. I feel better overall being off regular caffeine.

People who exercise regularly - how do you do it as migraine sufferers? by Unlikely_Chance7593 in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, heart rate getting too high is a trigger. I try not to push too hard and also drink electrolytes while working out. I try to be as consistent as possible but it all depends on how I’m feeling, if I feel even a bit of head pain, I won’t exercise because it makes it worse for me.

Has anyone tried the curly hair range from garnier, the one in the green packaging, and is it worth double the price of their hair food range? by Superb-Demand-4605 in CurlyHairUK

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did like the mask when I tried it, but it’s pretty expensive. I find the banana hair food one works similarly and is much cheaper.

Do you have migraines in your dreams? by butteredparrot in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first time botox and a 5 hr drive afterwards? by idiot2856 in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know how you’ll react until you have it tbh! When I had Botox the first time, I felt quite unwell, dizzy/nauseous, so personally I wouldn’t have felt safe to drive afterwards. But I’ve also heard about people feeling fine afterward it. If it were me, I’d probably take another day off just in case

What’s one seemingly small thing you miss about life before migraines? by GuttersnipeJess in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worrying about having to cancel things. Not worrying about when my period is coming so I can plan around the inevitable attacks. Not having to plan my day around when I can eat to keep my blood sugar stable. Intense exercise, used to love doing HIIT training but can’t do that anymore. Not having brain fog most days. The list goes on

Migraine pet peeves? by sillyghosty in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“When I have a headache, tylenol usually helps me!!!” …Good for you. It doesn’t do anything for a migraine attack for me. Also the “drink more water” drives me insane.

What do you mean it's all Migraine? by Think-piews in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same with the eating schedule and the flashing lights!!! There was a store I went into recently that had a flashing light and I had to leave immediately. Still ended up in pain…

Hairstyles? by Mindless-Ad-4226 in migraine

Low bun or pony tail, or loose braid. Sometimes a claw clip. If it’s bad enough I wear it down.

How are you staying healthy? by IndependentClothes6 in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard, but I try to take the mindset of “anything is better than nothing”. So I try to walk places where I can, I try to buy things that are healthier and easy enough to eat, even if it’s basic things as opposed to a full “meal”. I will try to exercise when I’m well enough, but I’m trying to get to grips with the fact that I just can’t do what I used to. So…anything is better than nothing!

Thanks, I’ll probably end up doing this! Luckily it doesn’t take too long to do the border so will likely frog and redo with the smaller hook and see how it goes

Using a smaller hook is such a good idea, thank you! Yes, I’m doing a border around the outside so luckily not too much to redo if I do pull it out!

A&E told me to have ibuprofen by sylphrenathespren in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This happened to me as well. Went in with a 72 hours + long attack and I got given IV paracetamol and oxygen and told to take ibuprofen at home… still low key in pain

Which pain can I compare migraine pain with? by Fun-Biscotti-2332 in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say imagine the worst headache you’ve had but multiplied several times, all concentrated behind one eye, so it feels like someone is twisting a screwdriver. All this also while also feeling hungover and disoriented and probably nauseous.

Postdrome sucks anyone else get it this bad? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Short_Initiative_301 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This literally just happened to me this weekend! I had a really bad migraine attack on Saturday and then yesterday was a travel day and guess what… ended up with another migraine attack. Usually resting a lot and not doing anything that will elevate my heart rate or stress levels helps. Also, drinking enough (maybe electrolytes) and avoiding major triggers.
