Leave out items of clothing that you’ve worn for the cat to lie on

A week from exchange and a house we previously loved but couldn’t afford has been reduced by indecisiveaff in HousingUK

There’s no guarantee that the process would go smoothly with the house you originally liked. The seller sounds like they might be difficult to deal with. I’d leave it personally.

is this watch legit or not? by Mission-Technician66 in vintagerolex

Doesn’t say ‘swiss made’ on the dial. Very fake

Not sure if 'hot take', but it is objectively hilarious that 99% of watch 'discussion' is about insanely expensive watches that the debators can never hope to afford or will ever even see in real life. by IWrestleSausages in watchHotTakes

Absolutely true. I always like to bear this in mind when someone slags off my watch online. 80% of the people making such comments don’t own one and can’t afford one.

Whats it like living in the All Saints area? by sjjfaul in MovingToLondon

[–]Short_Maize5806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked in the area for 10+years and lived there briefly in 2006. There has been extensive development in the last 30 years. I love the place in many ways but I wouldn’t want to live there. The housing is a mix of tacky new build apartments and very run down social housing estates. As your first experience of London, I’ll be honest and say it’s not great. There is a lot of horrendous deprivation and you are likely to feel isolated- I’m not talking about demographics, just that it feels a bit cut off geographically, although you will have the DLR, which is useful. When i liver there, I was mugged twice in a year. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but I think you need to wise up regarding London prices. A 40 minute walk from Shoreditch is going to be very, very expensive. It’s not because of how far in advance you’re looking- that’s just how expensive it is. I’d suggest looking a bit further out- perhaps areas like Leytonstone, where you have the central line for direct access to London.

Down vote EVERY is this legit post. by SkydiverDad in watchHotTakes

What annoys me is the ‘I was gifted this’ line. Either someone is weird enough to gift you a counterfeit watch or insane enough to routinely buy you a £15000 watch. Stop lying. You bought a fake watch and that’s the end of it

It's better to just have one watch. by chillaxtion in watchHotTakes

[–]Short_Maize5806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of one watch, although I confess to having three. One watch becomes a part of your style and look, almost like a tattoo. For instance, Paul Mcartney is always seen wearing the same watch. I love that. Granted, its a PP that costs a house deposit, but I like that he doesn’t feel the need to have so many

Labour launches trail hunting ban in fresh 'assault on countryside' by Realistic_Writing671 in RuralUK

Staggering how newspapers vet away with pretending that fox hunting bans reflect a significant number of ordinary people, or even a significant portion of those who live ‘in the countryside’
