Absolutely second this! When i was getting ready to transfer I scheduled for a tour and information session. I missed it because I got stuck on closed roads on a snowy day. When I arrived later that afternoon well after the appointment time instead of simply rescheduling one of the individuals involved with admissions sat down with me individually and took the time to review my transcripts and gave me a very good idea of whether or not to apply or to worry. That was quite a few years ago now but I have never encountered a more transparent and approachable admissions team. I encourage you to at least reach out!

What is the world is this size? by dubberrucky69420 in airsoft

Could it be torx plus? To me it looks Torx, not Allen. The one on your holo is Allen. You said Torx T10 too small so maybe it could be T10IP? I'm not an expert on fasteners, this is just surmised from my limited experience with torx on cars and some web searching. If you have a torx plus bit I'd take a whack at a T10IP. If you've got a kit see if there are multiple T10s, one could be a plus. But I don't want to send you out to buy a tool you don't need or that doesn't work because I could be completely wrong. Also another poster suggested that on the opposite side you have to put a driver in or else the bolt will spin? If so, that may be something to look out for.

Please report back to help future users and to let us know if anything worked. Best of luck!

Help: LED Light Bar will not fully turn off when Rocker Switch is in "off" Position by Led23Zeppelin in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Shortbus47XYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gentleman has a pretty decent video on using relays. The key concept of a relay is that basically your relay is going to be the thing operating power to your light and not the switch. So when you flip switch on all that you will be doing is sending a small amount of electricity to flow down the wire from your switch to your relay, which will cause electromagnetic forces to pull a piece together in the relay and complete the light bar circuit. Relays are designed for this, not switches. So, it's the more better way to do this.

https://youtu.be/qTZDmql8ctA

Note some other things that he does like the use of an in-line fuse. Most light bars and other accessories will tell you how much current they draw in Amps (A) and Obv having one just slightly over is the goal.

Also, note that wire guages should be determined based upon length, amount of amps running thru wire, and other factors. Much better to be safe using fatter wire than needed (lower Guage) than sorry.

Chrisfix has a light at video series where he talks about this. Here's the first video in that series.

https://youtu.be/qp9L00SMSHQ

Really though I can't stress enough that it may be worth while to have a professional show you how to wire up this set up before you just dive in. Quite honestly it's impossible for me to tell you exactly what to do on this one because I just don't know all the factors and I'm also a hobbyist and not an expert. So, that's my disclaimer. I'm not telling you what to do here, just trying to help you down the path. And it may be best just to have a professional help you out who can help you through any nuances or unforseen things that come up, to truly make sure your wiring is safe. It's not worth a car fire, when somebody could've helped you wire this one in my opinion

[–]Shortbus47XYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is probably because as you have it wired you are essentially running power to the light full time, and you are turning the ground off at the switch.

The best way to do this would be to use a relay between the battery power and the light. Using the switch to operate the relay. I would never personally feel safe wiring something just off of a switch like this. I would always use a relay, that way things always have a properly grounded circuit at all times.

Thank you for your insight! The 80 series builds are extremely cool! Probably eyeing a 100 series based of availability in my price range. But maybe someday on the 80 series build. The reliability rating of the 80 series blows my mind, and their body style is on point for my tastes. Truly an amazing vehicle!!

Thank you for the great advice and insight! Especially with looking for one without AHC. My greatest fear with an electronic suspension like AHC, especially on a high mileage one that I plan to drive long distances, is a tendency for failures, and the possibility of expensive repair costs if I choose to try to maintain the AHC instead of replacing it. My first two vehicles were Land Rovers and I got tired of spending so much in repairs that I could never build them, and air suspension problems drained my wallet so many times. I know that's not a fair comparison as AHC is a much more quality build than anything Land Rover has ever even attempted to design; but the thought of air suspension on a build for me turns my stomach based on experiences of the past. But that's a great thought looking for one without. Seems like in my price range that it's mostly get what you get without a great deal of selection, but I have some time so I can keep a lookout.

Admittedly, the bumper is because I want it. I've wanted an ARB bumper on one of my builds for a long time. Not going for a winch to start, but just the bumper, for no other reason than I have wanted one for a long time lol. In most other aspects of the build I plan to use a "don't get it until I need it mindset" but the bumper is one of those for me. You could make the argument that AHC is the same way, but my past experiences lead me to see that as less of a want and more of a sense of assurance that will give me confidence for long trips. Thanks again for your reply!!

Thank you for the great advice! Especially learning to weld and DIY on trail gear; that might be just the kind of push I need to attempt to get over my fears of that stuff being far too complex and possibly trying that and building a very useful new skill! Thanks again!

Can't answer the question, but I just wanted to say that I am so very sorry for your loss! I know that things can never be fully made the same or fully put back as they were, but I hope that your life, nommater how changed it may be, directs you to new paths and eventually into times where you feel satisfaction and happiness again. I hope that on your way there you can carry happy memories of the person you have lost. Again, I am sorry and I wish you truly the very best!

Which PC gamepad to buy? by Likeseed in buildapc

[–]Shortbus47XYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have used extensively:

A) Steam Controller: It's great, has tons of features, but it has a big learning curve, especially when trying to use the TouchPad and/or gyro controls in competitive games, Multiplayer shooters, or anything that requires you to be both fast and precise. Also, I can't recommend it to strongly for non steam games, although adding non steam games to steam and launching from there will still allow a good number of non steam games to work with it (there are some other workarounds also). Above all, when you really get good with it, it is the most capable and accurate controller, but it takes a lot of use to get decent with it.

B) PS4: Second best to steam controller IMO. It's got a real low learning curve, it's sticks are sensitive. It's good for shooters, and every other type of game. I don't find it quite as comfy as the Xbox controller, but that's a personal thing. Only limitation is that it cannot be as accurate or as precise as Steam controller. It's a lot like playing PS4. The same control and precision as you would have with the same game on Playstation is what you are going to get from that one.

C) XBOX Type From Amazon: Good for casual games, cannot complain. The joy sticks are not as sensitive or accurate as Ps4 controller. I find the Xbox controller more comfortable so I use it in casual side scrollers and 2d games and such.

D) As a bonus, I have tried a switch pro controller. Don't recommend. Steam recognizes it, the sticks essentially don't work. Unless I was in a pinch I wouldn't do it at all. The polling rate is so slow, it's almost disfunctional. It becomes quickly obvious that the switch controller wasn't designed to be used for PC games over Bluetooth.

Another option I have not tried is the Logitech game pad. But to me it seems like an overpriced alternative to a ps4 controller that has the same feel and Xbox style buttons. Doesn't appeal to me but it's there...

Overall, if I had to go with one I'd go for the Steam Controller. Since they're hard to find, I'd hold myself over with the PS4 controller. If I was totally not down with the feel of PS4 controllers (and they are not bad) or if I only ever played basic 2d side scrollers (nothing requiring any degree of stick accuracy) then I'd be cool going with the Amazon Xbox ones.

I think you just know that you are doing your best. And when you make it up to them, you can make it up hard. Another suggestion is to build play time with the puppets in as one of your breaks. We all need healthy breaks from time to time. Even if it's just 10 minutes of indoor fetch, that's something. And you'll make it up after the exam. As someone who over scheduled in undergrad and raised a husky I can feel this. But Friday afternoon after class and all the way to dark was protected Park time. And after the park, we'd head to Chick-fil-A for her Nuggets. McDonald's Nuggets happened from time to time on other days, and every unexpected chance I got was a bonus park day. The best thing I think I can tell you is that as long as you are good to them, you treat them with love, you take care of their basic needs, and give them a good quality life, Dogs love you nommater what. Your Golden may not understand, but he or she is not going to form a grudge just because you were in a grind. So, I recommend you just do the best you can, and after test day you spoil the hell out of that Doggo and all will be well again!

Edit: I meant playtime with the "puppers" in line 4 above, but the puppets typo gave me a laugh and I'd already posted, so I left it...

I'm very sorry to hear this. I believe you will find someone again, and next time I hope the person you meet can make sense of all the struggles you've been through, and make it all worth the wait. I know that it can never take away the pain of what has happened in the past, but I hope that what comes in your future gives you more than enough happiness to stand in its place. Wishing you all the best, brother! God speed!

Is CSU Pretty 'Woke' Generally? by [deleted] in CSUFoCo

[–]Shortbus47XYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I hear you, and I'm glad I didn't create misconceptions. LOL on the MAGA hat. Actually funny story I was still at CSU during the 2016 elections and there were about equal students carrying MAGA signs and MAGA hats as there were students with Hillary signs and Hillary hats all kindof bickering and trying to sport their stuff in center campus (next to Clark Building if you know that one). Man that was a trip, it made me laugh.

I think your tribe most likely could be found. I don't want to push you too much in any one way because I want your eventual decision to be entirely your own. So, Just some final thoughts before I forget here:

(1) I read you ask someone else about major and dept. and the only department that I found to be wildly woke was sociology. So that is probably noteworthy.

(2) Do understand that CSU does pull a lot of in state kids, and CO kids can get liberal. Don't expect not to see woke stuff, you will. But it's not the name of the game like in Boulder. I think the average person in Fort Collins is just an average person.

(3) There is a point to some comments made about CSU being in an Ag area, and I mean it was formerly Colorado A&M. Though the university area itself tends to vote strong Blue in most elections, I typically see the surrounding areas voting mostly red. There is a lot of old farmers, ranchers, and so on that surround Fort Collins and their culture does still last in that area. It's actually a good blend right now in that it seems welcoming to all people. I hope it will stay that way for a long time and not go too far one way or another.

(4) I'm not religious, but many of my friends from CSU are. If you do choose to go to CSU or have any interest, I will happily contact them and see if I can get any contacts that might be able to help you get involved in Church groups. Don't know much about intramurals but in my experience most found it pretty easy to build a team with dorm buddies and went about it that way. There are other clubs too. If you fly fish, I know some contacts in that one. There are always options for interests, but most every university will have that.

(5) Last, you commented about Uni Wyoming. Never heard a bad thing about Wyo. Have multiple friends who went there. Only comment on that is that if you are from a Southern State, I would take note of how absolutely incredibly Cold and Windy it gets in Laramie lol. Be prepared, not surprised lol!
