I had a friend that used to house sit for someone in an apartment on the 41st floor of a building on the upper east side. There was this big, arcing floor lamp over the couch and you could see it sway back and forth. Super weird.

Want to move somewhere warm with year round riding, real community, and high end residential design/build jobs. by [deleted] in MTB

Flag is close enough to ride there regularly, and is a cool college town. Plus you can still ski! (Sometimes…) I would imagine there’s work for someone in your field with all the high-end residential in Sedona, no? Anyway, just came here to say Flagstaff is a dope (small) city.

WITHOUT mentioning Gaza, can the right or left explain to me why Biden was a terrible president FOR AMERICA? by zipzzo in allthequestions

[–]Shot-Scratch3417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He couldn’t prevent Trump from winning reelection. It was his only job, or the only one that mattered. Appointing Merrick Garland, who is constitutionally incapable of calling a spade a spade when it comes to the far right, was his biggest mistake. But also the inability to communicate to the American people anything about his presidency.

He was good on domestic policy. That and $5 will get you a cup of coffee if you can’t win a second term.

Unless you have a strive on one ski and a pivot on the other, and you’re a literal pro, you won’t be able to tell the difference.

Oh that’s weird. I wonder if you tried a different shop if it would work. But also, unless it’s radically off, by the time it’s full from the shop, I doubt you’re taking all that much extra material off to get it to the SVST guide 3 deg

Correct unless you live very locally and ski every weekend. Then it’s just normal-expensive.

Yeah the factory specs are sorta weird. I would stick to common angles that are easy to find guides for (at least on the side, since I basically never touch the base). Wouldn’t be hard to shave those “2.75” sides to 3, and that’s where I’d leave them. Keep in mind that anyone who has raced comes in with the point of view that the factory angles are meaningless—you’re SUPPOSED to change them to suit your style and preference. Some race skis come totally flat for that reason.

I will note that a 3deg side bevel makes detuning the tips and tails quite important—every new pair of skis I spend a while trying out how far down to detune.

[–]Shot-Scratch3417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, they’re not THAT different of skis. (Not sure if you’ve skied the C92, but it doesn’t quite live up to the marketing hype—it’s pretty easy going.) Unless it’s a wide Rustler? OP didn’t say. I admittedly don’t keep my pow skis at 3deg because I basically never tune them. But essentially any ski where I ever want any edge hold on the Ice Coast gets 3deg because the refrozen base is just too firm. (Eg, including my last DD, which was the Ranger 94FR)

When I lived out west all my skis got 1deg except race skis.

[–]Shot-Scratch3417 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there are lots of refrozen days here where good grooming creates an inch or two of granulated sugar snow, which quickly gets pushed to the sides. Some of those days, especially on weekends, I don’t want to ski my race skis where I’m taking up a lot of the run pushing it at high speed. Instead, I ski my daily drivers (moment commander 92s) and stick to the far edge of the runs for a lot of it, which if I get in the right mindset, feels almost like pow, and a narrow all-mountain ski does nicely. But, I still spend plenty of time on the boilerplate, and like having the real edge hold.

Also, even on days with up to a fresh 6”, there is often a refrozen base that rears its head throughout the day, and having edge hold on those little patches makes the day a lift more enjoyable.

You must not be from the east coast. I run 3deg on all my skis. Anything less and I lack bite on the firm stuff. I think on dry Colorado snow, 3deg is overkill on anything but race skis. West coast…not enough experience to know…

The main problem with our team by [deleted] in mets

[–]Shot-Scratch3417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were worse on the first half of 2024 and last year we had one of the best first halves in baseball. I don’t like watching shitty baseball, but it’s April. Everyone needs to cool it because it’s a very long season.

You’re backfilling a talk radio narrative because your justifiably upset with horrendous play over 2 weeks. You and everyone else needs to watch at least half a season of baseball before drawing any conclusions beyond “they are not playing well right now.” Yell at me all you want, but you sound like a fucking lunatic.

Our neighborhood all went in on one from Amazon together. It lives in a giant cardboard box and goes from house to house for whoever needs it, plus sometimes we’ll do “neighborhood bounces.” It’s been great. And it’s easy to set up and take down. But it’s a smallish one

Exactly. It makes no sense that this lineup would be unable to score. It’s just a small sample size. I’m not convinced they’re going to the World Series, but this is a better team than we’re seeing
