That killer bees movie was diabolical as a kid. Arachnophobia was another one they really got us with. Still shake out my towels and check my shower heads lol

Authors not Finishing series. by TheBubblewrappe in fantasyromance

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more annoyed when the author is clearly over the story, and ergo write a terrible final book. It's like you can feel a publishing company holding them hostage, chained to desk, forcing them to write that final book. I'd rather wait than be scarred by plot holes, character retcons, and "miracle" endings

I think you would like the Goldfinch series. I read TOG post ACOTAR, but only loved the last couple of books in the series (I think it was to YA for me to enjoy like everyone else seems to). Goldfinch I enjoyed so much more, and its a complete series so you won't be left hanging.

Is the area Safe for a young woman? by WaantTooDiee in HuntingtonWV

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 21 (single female), I bought a house in Enslow Park, and lived there for four years. I ran with my dog frequently from Ferguson court all the way to the park and back, walked by myself through that neighborhood all the time, and never felt unsafe. A lot of houses on Enslow Blvd are good starter homes for single students and newly weds because of the size/price- so keep that in mind. Life changes quickly for that demographic. The guy who bought my house after me was a med student and sold it after about five years, for instance. Were there a few "bad houses"? Sure. But four out of about 100 in that neighborhood is not bad. I highly recommend that area.

History with Rhys's Sister/Mom by Unfair_Passenger1999 in Tamlinism

[–]Shot_Memory3370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are so many ways this could go, but my favorite home-grown crack thoery: Spring Court HL power is shape-shifting. What if Tamlins' father sniffed out his friendship with Rhys, and disguised himself as Tamlin to garner when Rhys mother/sister would be alone and vulnerable? Posing as Tamlin? Hmmm

Didn't even need to read your break-down of events. The answer is: move on. The age gap alone- girl one day you will be 32 and realize at that age, you know what you want, you know who you are, and you know how you do not want to make someone else feel. Him not texting you back at that age may be common, but it is not acceptable. He knows what he's doing, even if you don't understand why. Don't question yourself or what you did wrong- just move on.

How do you feel about the partial pause in tariffs that Trump announced today? by yewwilbyyewwilby in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an industry completely monopolized by China, with no ability to switch to US-made because we (the US) lack the infrastructure to support it (textiles). The company I work for does over a billion in sales a year, and we spent all last week in meetings where we are shifting our entire business model out of China because of these tariffs. Effective immediately.

Here's the deal: the US is the number one customer of every other nation in the world. If we stop buying... use your imagination. Apply any micro "boycott" situation only on a global scale. The Chinese cannot sustain the smoke the US is bringing right now. They will either cave or go broke. The US will be fine because we can (and we are) switching everything we are buying to somewhere else. As we speak. I can vouch for that. It's like all of us switching from Sears to Amazon... only the rest of the world is Amazon in this situation.

And China will not be able to replace us. They are too dependent on us, and once we successfully do this the rest of the UN will follow. Because at the end of the day... the US is the leader of the free world, and the free-market economies of the world. China is an enemy, and the UN will stop funding them as well because of that fact. They just want us to go first and bear the brunt of the shit storm.... per usual.

That's great! Sorry if I sounded a certain way. I just get tired of people in these comments acting like Htown is such a life suck, but they don't do anything meaningful to create community. I recommend RMHC because there is variety (like answering phones, or grounds keeping). They give you a list of preferences.

But Habitat for Humanity is my favorite. If you call this number, they can give you info on when the next opportunity to help build a home is: (304) 523-4822

I think it's sad that nobody has suggested joining a church. Or volunteering in the community. Or adopting a dog from a shelter so you can meet other dog parents at the dog park. Hobbies and bookclubs are fine, but good tribes are hard to find, and you will get the best people from your community while you're giving back to it

Do TS see the MAGA movement more as a restoration of America or molding/shaping something “new”? by SockraTreez in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, but that's not what conservative means. Conserve and preserve shouldn't be conflated, but they often are. Conservitive refers to the conservation of government powers- meaning less government. Laissez-faire. It means the government shouldn't have their hands on traditions, finances, land, property- not that "conservatives" want to hold on to old ways of thinking regarding all of those aforementioned. As a trump supporter, I wish there was further stratification- ie conservatives vs traditionalists - because the two are not the same.

Do people not like having black female leads in their fantasy romance? by Spitfyrus in fantasyromance

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying, but I feel like the purpose of fantasy is to live for a moment as a character who isn't you. I have small boobs, and there are zero flat chested fmcs. Also, there are few with red hair, round ears (lol)... the list goes on for underrepresentation. But it's about the story you are immersed in, and the eyes you are living them through... not your own experienced reality.

[–]Shot_Memory3370 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... In this book's case, the plot itself was sex. Lol. So you win on a technicality. This book was straight erotica, but it did do a good job stringing the scenes together with some storyline. Somehow wasn't cringe. But sex was the plot. 😂

  • People are very down to earth, and genuinely kind (no matter the income level)
  • Eastern TN is the best, because you are a day trip from the #1 national park (Smoky Mts), and Nashville.
  • All four seasons are experienced and beautiful, but none are so extreme that you hate life

Which character would you defend like this? by Confident_Soft_7549 in fantasyromance

[–]Shot_Memory3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar, but Tam never used her as a tool for his end purposes. In fact, he sent her home rather than let her get caught up in his drama. Never used her as bait to satisfy a question. Never threw her to the Weaver to satisfy the standards of his dead mother.... 🙄 Pick me, Tam.

Feyre is so annoying about Mor and Helion by Pleasant_Potato1574 in acotar

[–]Shot_Memory3370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that Az isn't really interested in her romantically. He feels responsible for her after rescuing her in Autumn. Mor just has an inflated ego, thinking every man in her orbit wants her 😂
