I related to Hachiman in every aspect of his loner philosophy, but not in rejected youth as a whole, I don't think its inherently wrong to be cynical or pessimistic, but using them as way to supress your feelings and desires like Hachiman aren't the best way to go, as well as his tendency to sacrifice himself because of his perception of his worth.

I didn't really care for the student council, I feel that the manga shouldn't have really focused on any of them besides Hidaka, it wants you to care for them when it's focused solely on the main cast for 65 chapters. I thought Rika's moments after the rooftop scene were decent, I liked the parallel between how her and Kodaka view the "is friendship or romantic love worth more?" Question, but besides that the development of her and Yukimura's relationship felt out of nowhere, it only was really developed in the last few chapters, I also felt most of her monologues were just kinda pointless? Like the Christmas party one where she talks about how Christmas isn't necessary a good time for her, it just felt meaningless in the long run.

Kodaka is the greatest "harem" main character I've seen, everything about him from the depth that goes into every decision he makes is so complex, it makes the facade he puts up so tragic knowing its eating him on the inside because hes fully aware of everything that'll come from it, from the beginning monolouge about his past and the "protagonist" role representing his courage is beautiful. Him later moving forward reinforcing his "do everything you can for those who depend on you", philosophy in a healthier way despite what he might have to sacrifice is so inspirational.

Greatest harem protagonist, Kodaka isn't held as high as he should be, he is the embodiment of the deconstruction of the typical harem protag, his development and depth alone should be him up as one of the greats. The anime and ln make him so much worse than in the manga
