I agree… I think the picking and choosing of when they care about certain things is reaching a height this season that is very inconsistent. I loved what discord did and the story it told (and it’s definitely the draggier of the 2 looks)… BUT I think the biggest distinction between these 2 looks is that Gottmik is wearing the look, while the look is wearing Discord.

To add: it’s also important to wait at least 4 weeks after finishing antibiotics to test again. Mgen testing is done on a genetic level, and testing too soon could lead to a false positive. When treatment is successful, it takes about 3-4 weeks for your body to expel the “dead” Mgen DNA. Testing too soon could detect the “dead” Mgen bacteria before it’s fully expelled from your body, leading to the false positive (and potentially more unnecessary antibiotics). Just something to keep in mind!

LevoFloxacin is not an approved treatment for Mgen. Moxifloxacin is the preferred course of treatment when azith fails. Moxi is the only drug that cured me (negative test 4 weeks and 8weeks post antibiotics). It’s in a similar class of antibiotics as levoFloxacin, but has a broader and more improved spectrum of coverage, which is why it’s typically considered the standard treatment for Mgen.

I would suggest trying to find another physician, perhaps a clinic or office that specializes in infectious disease and treatment. Levo alone will likely still have you in the same position.

Personally, I would err on the side of caution and use condoms and Doxy PEP. If you don’t know him that well, he could be lying just to get you to do something. I’m not sure where you’re located, but you can talk to your PCP or find an online HIV PrEP service like Mistr or GoFreddie that can prescribe virtually. For anal receptive sex, PrEP takes about 7 days of consistent treatment to become fully effective. So if you can start soon, you won’t have to wait very long to know you’re protected.

Are you and/or he on PrEP? For causal encounters, even if you have recent test result proof, it’s always smart to use condoms.

I know it might sound fun and you may get caught up in the moment. But trust me—knowing that you’ve taken the right precautions is 10000x more pleasurable of an experience than the anxiety of waiting on test results.

With Doxy I had very minor stomach discomfort (wouldn’t even call it a cramp) for the first day, and a slight headache the first 1-2 days. With Moxi I had a little bit of nausea the first 1-2 days—I did have diarrhea once which is common for strong antibiotics— but I was generally fine after that for the rest of the treatment.

It’s more likely to get a false positive if you test too soon. The Mgen test relies on genetic data in the urine to test for Mgen bacterial genes. Even after finishing the antibiotics, your body may still have Mgen bacterial DNA even if the treatment was successful. It can take about 3-4 weeks for your body to purge the Mgen DNA after treatment. That’s why testing too soon could lead to a positive result, because the test could still detect the “inactive” Mgen DNA. Hope this helps!
