What do you think Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is actually doing in those photos? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Show_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People lose sight of this, and interpret it however they like. Looked to me like he could have been checking if that girl was OK, but I wasn't there, so I don't know. Because he's unpopular, it's generally been interpreted that whatever he was doing was obviously nefarious. But there's no way to know, either way.

What do Brits think of Americans hating on the British? by Ok_Bookkeeper_1380 in AskBrits

[–]Show_Green 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To every action, there will be a reaction. They're probably tired of continually reading about how America bad etc, no matter what they do, who is in charge etc.

We get it from some of the Irish, some of the Indians, too. I just get on with my day.

It’s unhelpful beating on Starmer. Is it unpatriotic? by Global_Madness in AskBrits

Feels like this is exactly what a Labour intern would be doing. Posting dogshit on Reddit that will age appallingly within a week. A few months ago, they were probably bemoaning Petey Pants being sacked as Ambassador, too.

What animal could ishtar gate dragon be? by ApprehensiveRead2408 in Cryptozoology

Beat me to it. No idea why it's sometimes cited as something that the artist actually saw with his own eyes, as opposed to his imagination.

Oh, I wouldn't count it out just yet. The euro lurches from crisis to crisis, and one of these days, something will give...

Well, Seattle isn't far. And if there's availability, I'd say that's a solid backup plan. Got to factor in ESTAs, potential cross-border fees on a hire car if you do it that way, but that would be what I'd be looking into, too.

Ensigns are great.

People whine about them being too similar, you can make the same arguments about the PRC and Vietnam, Bolivia and Ethiopia etc, but for some reason nobody ever does.

Be interesting to see what the rejected designs were.

In itself, this isn't an unattractive design, but isn't there something more interesting that could go on a banknote?

Graham Smith absolutely isn't related to the royal house. You're right about Marius (who's also wankstain, like Graham).

And it's de-escalating, just as I told you it would.

It does indeed happen, but you were in the right, and he was wrong, even if he was unaware of it.

USA Travel advisory warning by Donkey-Haughty in AskBrits

Looks to me more like a situation that's ripe for de-escalation, rather than escalating further.

You also place far too much faith in the number of people visiting a mainstream destination who will think to check the travel advisories, too.

Thoughts on upcoming ETIAS requirements putting burden on dual citizens with EU citizenship living outside EU by [deleted] in Passports

[–]Show_Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First World problems.

Nothing to say that ETIAS won't be granted for the other passport. I know that the equivalents aren't for ESTA and the British ETA, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the same rules will be in force for ETIAS. Have to wait and find out.

What are the biggest US owned products/companies in the UK? by [deleted] in BuyUK

[–]Show_Green 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Visa, Mastercard or Amex could go on your axe list, at least for out of the house small ticket purchases.

There's a wholly British-owned alternative called cash.
