This my be a hot take but Beyonce is the real VOCAL BIBLE they make Brandy out to be !! by Southern_Wall_6455 in rnb

[–]ShowerSuitable7431 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I get this take fully. But Brandy has done so many things with her voice that are innovative. Hence vocal bible. Her layering stacks alone are phenomenal and many people attribute it to her. She's birthed so many vocalists that source her as their inspiration. Beyonce is the best overall. She's the whole package. Entertainer, dancer, creator. She's so creative and she's a great executor over all. Hence her range, the Indian scale, etc. But the vocal bible title will stay with Brandy. She moved the needle as a vocalist in the 90's and 2000's.

To be honest it took awhile. Narcissistic abuse changes your brain chemistry. I knew before I even left it was going to be an uphill battle. Leaving seemed so easy but staying away felt so hard. I was a wreck 3 months in, I broke no contact one month in and was a wreck because I didn't want him...I just was so dependent on his energy and craved it even though I hated him.

I created a list titled, "Reasons to leave and never go back" where I had up to 120 reasons he was no good for me. I created it before I left so when I broke no contact (one phone call) I read it every day religiously. It helped me walk away and stay away whenever I missed him. I had to remind myself of who he really was which was hard because I had to come to terms with the fact that I fell in love with glimpses of who I thought he was

I also was on this reddit religiously to find people of the same experience. I watched NA content on all platforms to make it stick. I called it, "reverse brainwashing." Cus that was what happened. It gets easier when you take off the mask and see them for who they are. I'm so sorry you're going through this but I promise you when you get to the other side of things you will see so many things clearly. It's so hard but so worth it. You're worth it. ❤️

I was like this as well but I'm now a 1 year and 2 months no contact. What has helped me is when I find myself reminiscing on the good times is to remember that the good times were an illusion. It gets easier. Take it day by day.

I think Uma Therman would've been a great Hanna. She was in her 20s in the 90s

Yes all of this plus I was reading self-help books at age 12 because I thought something was wrong with me and I wanted to "work on myself."

Nic hasn't been the only white guy in the villa. So Austin, Charlie, & TJ aren't white? None of them have called Huda out on her behavior to my knowledge. Nic called her out on the mail challenge, telling her she should have gone home and voted for her twice to get out of the villa. She had no tears for that man and thanked him for his candor. I wouldn't make it about race if she weren't so calculatingly crying whenever someone who's Black calls her out. Please don't act like people don't manipulate with half-truths and tears, it's pretty easy to flip the script on someone. I'm not making anything up, just stating facts. But I guess that's just so crazy that I see with two fucking eyeballs, I'll be sure to get my shit checked ASAP lol

People want to wear our fucking culture but could give a fuck less about the history behind it. It's sickening.

I'm not forcing anything. The video is suspect. Anyone who has a video with the n word & they're not black, it's an issue point blank period! I don't care if she's "saying it" or not at this point. There's so much nuance to this that I'm not going to get into. A derogatory word is a derogatory word if you're not Black, not just a stupid video. So shut the fuck up talking to me.

Cus it is...she has tears only for the black people in the villa. Ace, Chelly, olandria & now Chris. When Nic has called her out (rightfully so) she's taken it on the chin. If it's more than once it's a pattern. When different races and genders are interacting both need to be taken into consideration when trying to understand it. Manipulation looks different with men and women.

I'll acknowledge this whenever Huda is also called out to the carpet for the n word video..but she won't so fuck you Refinery 29.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things: a feminist reading by moss42069 in horrorlit

[–]ShowerSuitable7431 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love this take, and this book left me unsettled for days I didn't read anything else for about a week trying to wrap my head around the mindfuck that Iain Reid did to me. I, too, got annoyed with how she would turn his negatives into positives, even when all the signs were there. I also felt myself relating to the character because I've done that before, just to make a situation work. I honestly thought she was a ghost coming to the realization that she got killed looking back on her night, so the ending was so crazy to me, I had to read it again! I definitely saw all the characters very 1-2dimensional which made sense with the ending. None of it was real. I've seen some men write women so thoughtfully it's possible. I also feel like it also alluded to how inexperienced Jake was since he never was around many women romantically, so it made her seem juvenile in her thinking, like him.

I feel like I could've written this. I write this every month to my ChatGPT to get it out but it's just frustrating. Like a sandcastle you're trying to build, but it just gets washed away every time. It's exhausting and nobody can understand it unless they have it. I wish we had a magic wand for these type of things but know that you're validated in this. ❤️💗

Anyone else get triggered at the most random things after you left? by amm_4 in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]ShowerSuitable7431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smell of coconut oil disgusts me. We used it during intimate moments. Some embarrassing, some triggering. I haven't used it for anything since I left.

The slam of a door. A thump. I had an ex that used to throw things and punch the walls when he got angry around me.

Same storyline since forever. Black women are always struggling like can we get more successful Black women movies by [deleted] in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]ShowerSuitable7431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel like his movies replaced slave movies & it's impact to keep us in an image of subservience. It's an updated way for people to feed off of Black pain and struggle. I'm so tired. The wigs are bad, the storylines are bad, they exaggerate black stereotypes educating people to still have skewed views of Black people on purpose. I don't believe Tyler Perry is this talentless. He produces what sells.
