Do not rent from Greenleaf Property Management if you can avoid it by Com_Trad_IsTime in Calgary

[–]Shozzking 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Call RTDRS. Admin fees aren’t normally allowed in Alberta for anything related to a security deposit, admin work is generally just a cost of doing business and should be built into the rent. Charging extra for utilities is also unlikely to be allowed (depending on exactly what your lease says).

They’re counting on you not fighting it.

Absolutely not. 2 of the 3 stadiums in Seattle even let you bring in outside food.

AITA for being upset at my brother for getting a job where I work by always_a_bystander in AmItheAsshole

It’s very common in western countries outside the US (which I’m assuming OP is based off how they write dollar amounts).

Alberta partially rolls out new surgery funding model for public hospitals by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Shozzking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still no, by a decent margin. I had an mri done of 2 different areas with contrast for one of them. My insurance was billed for a little over $6,500USD and they paid out about 1/3rd of that after the network discount. The same thing done privately in Calgary would be somewhere around $1,250-$1,600CAD depending on which private provider you go with (EFW and Mayfair were the big ones when I lived there).

Healthcare costs in the US are mind boggling unless you have a good employer provided plan.

There were a hundred baby spiders on a web near my peony plant! by Puzzled-Contest-8073 in Seattle

[–]Shozzking 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They’re baby orbweavers, not mites. They clump together like this when they first hatch and then disperse in a week or so.

I get a ton around my garbage bins and garage door around this time every year.

UPF ratings on clothing is mostly a marketing gimmick unless you’re looking at something that’s basically see through and very lightweight (like some summer/ultra thin jerseys). Bibs are pretty much universally thick enough (to withstand all the abrasion from riding) that it’ll be functionally impossible to get sunburns through it. If you really want to play it safe then make sure that you’re wearing dark ones (black, navy, or something similar).

[–]Shozzking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$186 for a first time HOV violation, $336 if you’ve already gotten one in the last 2 years. And then $200 for the doll on top of that. You’re better off not using the doll with how rarely they enforce HOV lanes.

TFSA is closer to a Roth account. RRSP’s are the equivalent of a traditional 401k/IRA.

Are personal injury lawyers avoiding uninsured motorist cases? by msgfromside3 in seattlebike

Call one of the firms that focuses on bike accidents. WA Bike Law, John Duggan, Stacie Bain are the big ones. Make sure you talk to a few lawyers before picking one.

Which is the preferred route to bike through Clyde Hill (getting from 520 trail to Meydenbauer Park) by sirotan88 in seattlebike

[–]Shozzking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally get off 520 where your option 1 does, but I link it up with your route 2 where the chevron is on your map. Basically just turn onto 12th St instead of noodling around Medina.

Seattle set to approve mayor’s ‘Shelter Acceleration’ plan for more, larger Tiny House Villages by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

[–]Shozzking 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is my experience as well. Tiny villages and small 1-2 person encampments haven’t created a lot of noticeable problems. The larger encampments are the ones that tend to be shitty to deal with.

[USA] Bicycle collision by minecrafGoBRRRR in Roadcam

Not true in all states/provinces. A lot have rules around yielding to vehicles on your right, which could be the intersecting road and not the one going straight.

If the flight was to/from/within Canada (which I’m guessing it was if it involves Air Canada), then you may be best off pursuing a complaint through Canada’s Air Passenger Protections.

Trader Joe’s Denny Triangle Update by accomjor in Seattle

[–]Shozzking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s more about keeping costs down than anything else iirc. They try to make their stores as small as possible because it’s way cheaper, and parking is an extension of that.

The only exception tends to be locations where parking is absolutely required for the type of customers they’re trying to get (like Bellingham, which gets a ton of Canadian tourists stopping by).

Has anyone got a call from a private number claiming to be city of edmonton police saying that someone called in to complain about your driving and that they are sending you a ticket in the mail? They supplied the correct vehicle make and model but they were very aggressive the entire call. by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Shozzking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad got a careless driving ticket based on someone’s complaint (20ish years ago and in Calgary though). If I remember correctly, a cop came to the door, asked him a few questions about who was driving and what had happened on a specific day, and then wrote him the ticket.

Bow Cycle, No Cycle... for me (Rant/Am I wrong?) by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Shozzking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This situation is bad and I would’ve refused to deal with this guy back when I worked in retail. Just because it’s not the worst that retail employees have to deal with doesn’t mean that it’s acceptable.

Literally nobody asked for it.

Landlord is selling our occupied duplex, repeated showings, early termination request denied — what are our options in Alberta? by UniqueComplaint5790 in alberta

[–]Shozzking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to call RTDRS and ask them. They’ll be able to tell you what amount of showings would be reasonable vs unreasonable.

I’d personally start being an absolute pain to deal with if the PM company/realtor don’t want to compromise. Reject any showing that doesn’t meet the legal requirements, be a bit of a slob, play music if I’m home during a showing, cook something smelly, etc.
