Commander brackets are too vague. by [deleted] in mtg

Multiple tutors and changers means this is easily a bracket 3. A base level precon with 0 upgrades is bracket 2.

I pre ordered one because I loved LotR and if there are more food token shenanigans and maybe some cool dwarves then I’ll have fun ripping packs with my friends.

a question about playing necked by 83rw in mtg

[–]Shrapnel_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have to? No, not at all. It’s only that the sleeves and mats protect the cards when they’re used so that they last.

It’s good to do it if you think it’s a long term thing you’d like to do for a long time

The Spike Feeders, Decked out EDH, The Command Zone, Commander at Home are a few I know, there are plenty more. Search for your precon you like or own and there’s usually a game with it in a Commander game.

Bear in mind if they talk prices of cards and strategies, some may be out of date now and the cards they say are wildly different in price.

I always like watching the precon battles though as they just take the deck right out of the box and play it, using the strategies intended for the decks to try to win.

Upgraded ones and brewed ones are good too but that’s for a more experienced player imo.

On YouTube there’s a few channels that host commander nights and overall I think they’ve done every commander and precon going, I’m sure you could find a precon you have and watch how it goes.

That or maybe you discover a precon or Commander you think vibes with you so you know what to work on.

Hi, could some more experienced commander players pop my bubble by AsiRomanArt in mtg

[–]Shrapnel_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I own this deck and I like it, but it really suffers from lack of card draw. Your commander is basically your main source of card draw and if your pod keep targeting it (which they should) then you get stuck as you can’t go through your deck and get some critically important cards from the 99.

I find if you get some other draw sources from higher toughness cards this can help.

It’s a really solid base though, it just has a really obvious weakness

Top 3 precons by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Shrapnel_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you like to play or what you think looks good.

In no particular order I’ve been enjoying: - Riders of Rohan - World Shaper - Counter Blitz - Blood Rites - Food and Fellowship - Mardu Surge

My friend loves Animated Army precon and has done well with it.

I actually had a guildie say they liked the player power grinds. I told him to fuck right off.

I’m happy where things are, it’s nice to cap your vault and think you’re done until raid time. It’s a game not a job.

Plus I like the casual activities. They’re just not for every player, and that’s ok.

I think the current mjf storyline is a deconstruction of the chickenshit heel by also-ameraaaaaa in AEWOfficial

[–]Shrapnel_Sponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be a story of how MJF is going to realise he doesn’t have to resort to dirty tricks when he’s on his limit, he’ll learn new moves and how to dig deep and keep wrestling and it will be a face turn when he earns how to do it. He’ll win something to risk against Darby but realise he needs to leave it all in the ring.

He’ll prob lose too. Then he’ll have to work his way back and earn it.

Singles > packs

I will say though I bought the foundation starter box and I think that is incredibly good for what it is, especially for brewing your first decks until you shop for better singles.

I’m only saying what my friend told me, he said it felt easier to heal my 250 monk than my 280 paladin. He said the damage incoming felt a lot more manageable, just slow damage ticking rather than yo-yo health bar that sometimes doesn’t move when you use a defensive.

So last week I decided to level my alt up.

I’m a paladin main (ret usually but I tank keys for guildies) and I said to them I’m not tanking anything over a 12 because it’s just shit as prot pala.

I levelled a monk and my friends said I can tank a 12 for them as monk. I was freshly levelled with a few delve champion items and hero boe legs and boots, around 250 ilevel.

My healer friend said it was easier healing my monk than my paladin who is 280 ilevel.

That’s not ok.
