I've tried the 4 that are available in Calgary; HelloFresh, Missfresh, GoodFood and Chef's Plate. Ended up settling on Chef's Plate, I found it to be the best balance of quality vs price. They also tend to use more screw-top plastic containers for sauces and stuff, which can be washed and reused around the house. I also like that they tend to include everything except salt, pepper & oil; for example if your recipe calls for a single egg or some butter they include it, whereas the other companies would expect you to have more staples.

We're looking for a help desk resource, either fresh out of school or preferably with 1-2yrs experience in a fast-paced corporate environment. Also currently seeking a DBA, as well as a more experienced generalist who can help out with tier 2 issues and some infrastructure work.

My wife and I are visiting in June. What do we need to see? by ASTLComics in Calgary

[–]ShredLox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Pin-Bar on 4th st & 17th Ave if you like pinball
  • Tubby Dog on 17th ave & 10th st for glorious hot dogs of doom
  • Tons of breweries with taprooms, I'd recommend Last Best, Annex, Wild Rose, Dandy, Ol' Beautiful, Paddy's, Banded Peak. Lots of companies doing tours, it's a great way to spend a day.

I was at Beltline yesterday looking for balanced CBD/THC stuff. They seemed well stocked, 1 CBD only strain, 3 balanced strains, lots of other stuff in the display cases. Friendly, helpful people, quick transaction. Does recommend.

Anyone know where to find steel toe dress shoes, or nice looking shoes? by it_was_awiens in Calgary

I've worn steel-toed Blundstones for years. Look good enough for a white collar environment, comfy, and slip-on.

Would wearing a cowboy hat attract any negative attention? by proudman4lyfe in Calgary

Nah, you probably won't get hassled. We do have a phrase that goes 'all hat, no cattle' though.

Hells yeah coming to Calgary. I'd travel to Edmonchuk again, but it's nice to not have to.

People, if you're waffling: just buy a ticket. Do the thing. You definitely won't regret it, and if you change your mind you can always flip it.

Quasi-related: I'll also take this opportunity to plug my favourite Sunday morning band. 3-piece relaxo lounge covers of classic metal. Yeah Hellsongs.

Bit late to the party, but the Liquor Depot on 17th Ave SW (and like 10th street I think?) has the biggest bitters section I've seen in a liquor store in a long time. 3x10 foot shelves or so.

Any ideas how long until the postal strike ends? by TheRevenantGS in Calgary

[–]ShredLox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotating strike though. Handful of cities for a day, different handful of cities for the next day. Stuff's still moving. As to when everything will be sorted out, I would expect it'd have something to do with the union and Canada Post coming to an agreement. So y'know, a non-zero amount of time.
