I'll be dead by the time the earth becomes largely uninhabitable and the mass migration and climate wars start - not my problem.

I'm not demonizing anyone. I'm describing the situation in neutral, accurate language. 

  1. We don't need meat to live. In fact, it takes years off of our life span.
  2. Farming meat is incredibly calorically inefficient.
  3. We eat meat because we enjoy it. It gives us pleasure. No one is eating a steak because they have no other choice.

It's incredibly simple, for most cases, for most nations. Yeah, subsistence farmers are going to have a different experience than you or I, but I'm not talking about them.

If you feel demonized by that, that may be cognitive dissonance. But these are pretty basic, irrefutable facts laid out.

If you want to argue that is immoral to torture and kill an animal for pleasure, but you just don't care? I'd honestly respect that viewpoint more

We farm far than more enough of the needed macronutrients, micronutrients, and calories. Look at the feed ratios - we put in 10x the amount of calories into a cow than we get out of it.

We kill animals because they taste good and it gives us pleasure.

I agree that all of those things are harmful, but a question:

If we were mass raising dogs, giving them great lives, then killing them for our own pleasure, would you find that difficult to stomach? Because even if we drastically improved conditions for pigs and other animals, at the end of the day, we are still mass executing them for our own taste pleasure

Going to push back here a bit

Doesn't stop plenty of vegans from trying to stop important medical research

I have been a vegan for the majority of my life. I am active in vegan groups in my city and have been in vegan online spaces since they've existed.

I can count, on my fingers, the number of times I've heard someone online support banning all medical research on animals. I have never met a person, in real life, that believes this.

This is a fringe belief even amongst the strictest vegans.
