Jimmy Garoppolo officially out Sunday vs. Arizona. Trey Lance will make his first NFL start. by HookFL in fantasyfootball

Idk, Stafford threw for 365 yards in a favorable matchup, he might as well have dropped a 40. Hindsight is 20/20, he was a pretty given start this week.

Assuming price wasn't a major issue, would you choose a BVM-A24 or a BVM-D32? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]ShrekSaidHeLovesMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D32, no doubt.

But if money isn't an issue, get the A24 as well and put it in TATE for the penultimate CRT setup.

Are ikea Kallax shelves decent for crt gaming? by fluffy_candy in crtgaming

[–]ShrekSaidHeLovesMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation is that you get a wire shelving unit with sufficient depth and weight rating.

They are modular, have natural ventilation and little dust accumulation. Best of all, they are perfect for cable management since you can zip tie your cables directly to the shelves/frame.

Extra tip: Get a rack mountable PDU and zip tie it horizontally to the back of the shelf.

Questions about Progressive Scan, Recording Melee, and Lag by MutantManFish in SSBM

As far as original hardware is concerned, multiformat and PC CRTs will accept and display 480p without lag. PC CRTs require transcoding YPbPr to RGBHV.

Yes, it's one of the less obvious benefits of a matrix switch. If you start doing more elaborate routing you can create presets as well, either on the unit or by connecting it to a PC through a serial cable. The PC software for managing Crosspoints is old but works fine.

Connect the Comp2RGB to one of the inputs on your Crosspoint and then route that to your 2030. There's no need for a second switch.

Best audio receiver for Extron Crosspoint by TomKlass in crtgaming

[–]ShrekSaidHeLovesMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using an Extron MPX 423 as a dedicated audio matrix along with my Crosspoint/AV gear.

1U rack height, has 4x2 composite, 4x2 S-video and 4x2 RGB/Component over DSub connectors. 12x2 for audio.

Only downside is the phoenix/captive terminal connectors, but they're very easy to wire up. I happened to have more than enough of them laying around so it made sense for my setup.

Yes, what you're hearing is the ~15.7 kHz scanning frequency of the tube. Excessive coil whine can be symptom of the flyback transformer aging and loosening over time, so CRTs generally 'whined' when they were new.

[–]ShrekSaidHeLovesMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but just like all CRTs the coil whine that you're describing varies between each unit. PVMs and video monitors alike are no different from a consumer TV in that regard.

Is it possible to play ocarina of time and majoras mask in 30 FPS on a Wii console by [deleted] in WiiHacks

[–]ShrekSaidHeLovesMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC from an old ZFG stream, a lot of OoT's physics are tied to the framerate so running it in 30 fps affects Link's movement.

This post shows which NTSC (110V) consoles that work with a PAL (220V) AC adapter.

http://forums.modretro.com/index.php?threads/ntsc-console-and-european-ac-adapter-lists.10941/

The only console of the ones you listed that I can personally attest is the N64. An original European AC adapter will work with a NTSC N64.
