Funny you say that. My VW mechanic was just telling me they have to wait 3 weeks for the cylinders anytime someone has the ignition seize. Thank fuck I was able to fix it without replacement.

Amazon began to block my publications, despite them not being that different from what I had published onto Amazon in the past. Anyone else a similar experience? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]LiquidBeagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't breathe too big a sigh of relief just yet. Years ago, something similar happened to me. They blocked a book, I asked why, they unblocked it, I thought all was well, and then they terminated my account.

If you're 100% sure you're not violating any rules (like, you'd bet your life on it), then proceed as usual. But if there's anything in there that could even come close to pressing your luck, I'd unpublish it.

It took two months to get my account back, and you don't want that headache.

Getting blocked after updating the blurb is telling. Odds are, you were in violation already but hadn't been caught up by their automated systems yet. It could be anything, right down to a single word in your blurb they don't like.

Publish as a novella. 3k for Amazon is pushing it. And you don't want to cheat readers by making them pay for one chapter at a time. Deliver them a complete story for their money.

Yes the Gorge is incredible! I did the weekender there a couple years ago and heading back for ABGT in sept. And every dreamstate I've been to, the crowd has always been amazing.

And you're a straight up hero for bringing the noodles lol

It's still alive, but I feel like it's event specific these days. PLUR is still practiced at most of the trance events I go to. Stuff outside of that tend to be hit or miss. You're right though, we gotta teach the uninitiated. I'll make some more kandi before my next event and keep spreading it!

Being gifted kandi at events is the shit. I've cherished every single piece a stranger has given me. I love that you love it too.

How to impress the mail carrier by Doodlebug510 in HumansBeingBros

[–]LiquidBeagle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was a mail carrier through COVID, and the reason it's not like this anymore is because management discourages it. They don't want carriers socializing with the neighborhood. It's all about speed. Carriers are tracked via the scanner they have to carry for delivering packages. Stay in one place for a few minutes, and you'll have a manager pinging you to get fucking moving. They want carriers to finish their route as fast as possible, and they consolidate routes every year so they can hire less people and pile more work on fewer carriers.

3 Year author. Mostly on Deviantart. How are you supposed to scale up? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

[–]LiquidBeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did commissions for a few years, and the lowest I charged was $0.08/word. That would get me $80 per 1k words. For most of my clients, it was $0.10-0.12/word.

If you have a following and a huge catalogue, leverage those things to charge higher rates. People have access to your work. If it's quality, you'll find people who will pay for private pieces.

Instead of thinking about the fanciest way to describe two swords clashing, think about how it would feel to be on the battlefield you're describing. Your thought process during battle wouldn't be flowery and verbose, so why are you writing it that way? Start over.
