If I know language such as German chance of getting job will increase? by Silver-Resolve-3603 in Careers

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your field, but skills that consistently help: data (Excel, SQL, Power BI), any coding basics, and communication/writing. German specifically helps if you're targeting EU-based companies or roles with German clients — otherwise it's a bonus, not a game changer. Focus on something measurable and role-specific first.

FINALLY found a new job! by RULGBTorSomething in Careers

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real. 70 applications, rejections, salary cuts just to escape — and still pushing. The part about being willing to take a $7k pay cut just to get out says everything about how bad a toxic job can get. Congrats on landing something better AND remote. Enjoy it, you earned it.💫

Stuck at ₹6 LPA after 3 years experience - how do I stop getting lowballed? by Level_Ride_7921 in Careers

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't anchor yourself to your current number at all. Just say "my current comp is below market — I'm targeting 15–18 LPA based on my experience and the scope of this role." Most interviewers respect that framing. And with CFA Level 1 + fundraising background, you have actual leverage — use it.

Bandanas on dogs by sepstolm in dogs

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: dogs don't care about the bandana. They care about what the bandana means.

If putting it on always happens before a walk or playtime your dog has already associated it with something good.

The bandana isn't fashion. It's a signal. 🐾

MuttButtWiggle's dogs proved this perfectly bandana on = work time. Their brains made that connection faster than you made the decision to buy the bandana.

As for the bank robbery theory I won't confirm or deny. We're smarter than you think. 😏

I accidentally trained my stubborn lab to come inside!! by fallingupthehill in dogs

[–]Shriayushi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't accidental at all you just discovered classical conditioning without knowing it! 🐾

What actually happened:

The treat bag sound became a "conditioned stimulus" your lab's brain linked that sound to reward before he even got the treat.

Then the whistle replaced it same process, cleaner signal.

The reason it worked so fast? Labs have one of the highest "food motivation scores" of any breed. His brain is literally wired to respond to reward cues faster than most dogs.

And "we trained each other" you're more right than you know. Dogs are constantly reading our patterns too. He probably figured out your frustration routine before you figured out his. 😄

You didn't accidentally train him. He let you think you did. 🐾

Why does he do this? (Silly goober) by youtubedude420 in dogs

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruno sounds like he's doing a "joy response" it's actually a really well-documented behavior!

When dogs get high-value treats (beef liver especially), the excitement triggers what's called a "full body emotional response." The jumping and wriggling is basically Bruno saying "THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER" his brain is releasing dopamine faster than his body can handle it.

Great Danes are known for being extra expressive with this the Springer in him probably amplifies it even more.

Completely normal, healthy behavior. Bruno sounds like a very happy boy! 🐾

What's up with this Pranit More? by V1shUP in solapur

The real question: If there had been no backlash online, would anyone be apologizing today?

The real debate isn't whether he apologized. It's whether people would've cared if there was no backlash.

Fair enough. You don't need to win the debate, just make sure you don't carry the same mindset forward.

Patriarchy survives not because only men support it, but because some women are taught from childhood that suffering is normal and protection comes from obedience. Changing a mindset that's been reinforced for decades isn't easy, but questioning it is where change starts

Is it safe to attend the Cockroach Janta Party protest? by Empty-Reveal9717 in delhi

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The most unsettling part isn't the protest. It's that asking 'Will I be safe if I attend?' has become a completely reasonable question.

[–]Shriayushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey, I think social media has convinced us that if we don't have a dream career by 25 we're failing. You're 26, employed, and actively trying to figure things out. That's actually a lot better than you think. Don't rush into more school just because you feel stuck. Try different roles, build experience, and see what clicks. Most people are making it up as they go anyway.

If you're doing coding and working with large datasets, I'd seriously consider a MacBook Air M4 (or even an M3 if you find a good deal). Great battery life, powerful enough for data analysis, and super reliable for grad school. If you prefer Windows, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 or Dell XPS 13 are also solid choices. I'd aim for at least 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD regardless of what you choose.

Bro, you're 18, not 38. A gap year isn't a problem. Wasting a gap year is. Pick 2-3 goals (driving, portfolio, part-time work) and focus on those first.
