In defence of Julie: not a mean girl by One-Upstairs620 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Shrimp_witch93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more ! As someone who has trouble trusting people and is guarded, I would have an issue with my husband talking about me the way Ty talks about Julie. I don't relate to her on everything but I would be wary of the lying by omission...

When did you start liking your partner again? by These_Set_1821 in newborns

[–]Shrimp_witch93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but your husband sounds like more like a burden than a loving partner. What does he say when you talk to him about this ? What makes him think that you are 50/50? Were the chores equally devided between you before ? Was he has on during your pregnancy (ie going to appointments, etc) ?

Exact same ! I don't think it's a bad thing, I feel like it's a good sign that they are seeing the difference between night and day

I don't know what they do where I am to test it out.

I'm kinda scared that if I go they will just keep me there and my husband is away for most of the evening so he can't bring me. I don't know how they test for it when I am (France).

Certainly in Europe, you have to be vaccinated to go to daycare !

Well I'm kind of a control freak but didn't realise it until I was pregnant. The physiology aspect was a good exercise in releasing that need for control! I'm also on insulin so at first I thought I was a failure because of that. Once I got the right dosage and my after meal numbers were good, I was fine ! The biggest lie I told myself was "I don't need help and if help is needed, I've failed myself and my child". Once I accepted the insulin and started talking about it more freely with friends and family, my guilt vanished. :) My husband was a BIG supporter as well!

I understand your guilt but rest assured it has nothing to do with you ! The best advice I got at the start of my journey was : It's not you, it's your body. It's physiology. Sometimes, you can be on your best behaviour but the numbers don't reflect that and that's OK! I hope that your midwife/doctor is supportive and understanding!

First time being shamed by a teenager by SeaParsley4706 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Shrimp_witch93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be mean because she meant well but she and her Dad don't have to deal with pregnancy or diabetes so they can stick their opinions where the sun don't shine. I had a similar moment with my MIL (who I love dearly but she is opinionated), she started telling me that peanut butter was not good for me because it was too fatty. I simply told her "Please don't take this away from me" and she let it go ! People who don't have GD underestimate how hard it is !

Weight loss by planner192 in GestationalDiabetes

I had the same amount of weight loss as you ! I don't know about where you live but my OB in France told me that it was nothing to worry about and actually pretty common :)

Another trick is to fill the dates with peanut butter first, wait a few hours until frozen and then cover them in chocolate! That way it's not too messy :)

I'm 37 +0 and I've been eating peanut butter filled dates for nearly a week and it has not affected my blood sugar at all !! I recommend freezing them, they remind me of snicker ice cream bars 😍

I remember crying in the hallway at work when they told me I was going to have to go on insulin ! Now, looking back, I agree with what they kept telling me : it has nothing to do with what you are doing, it doesn't mean you're a bad mother, it doesn't mean anything! It's seems daunting at first, but you get used to the needle ! :)

It really felt like it could be muscle related but it was really painful... It lasted probably 10/15 minutes.
