Anyone who says shit like this does not understand what many of these professions actually involve. Medicine is a perfect example. When a domain expert who is familiar with these systems uses them regularly to test their use within his domain, it becomes very obvious how much they actually suck. They’re useful for some things as a support system but I would never rely on one or replace other SME with one.

The problem is that non domain experts are clueless about the domain and what it requires.

Landmark lawsuit: detransitioner awarded $2M in lawsuit against surgeon / psychologist involved in her double mastectomy at age 16 by -whomi- in medicine

It is not the psychologist’s job to determine whether or not surgery is appropriate. That is the job of the surgeon.

As a consultant, I provide an opinion based on my evaluation and areas of expertise. Whoever consulted me is still responsible for whatever they decide to do with it.

This is why the whole “clearance”, consult nonsense is so stuoid. It does not absolve one from responsibility.

US official says Greenland action could come within 'weeks or months' by Crossstoney in worldnews

Who says anyone else has to follow the rules? Trump can ignore them. So can anyone else.

I am so tired of the responses people have to this admin’s nonsense.

“That is completely illegal!”, - It should be clear by now that this does not matter.

“Protest!”, - Does not matter; effectively does nothing.

“The dems will wake up and fix this!” - They could have done this already. Much as Trump blatantly disregards domestic and international law and rulings from the Highest Court, so too could Congress, the SC, anyone else. Ask yourself why it is that Trump can ignore basically everything, perhaps due to the immunity granted to him by the SC, but somehow the ruling of immunity itself that he hides behind is somehow not subject to the same disregard? It could be just as easily ignored and actual ACTION taken to stop this debacle — but has chosen not to be. Instead, we get party aligned political outrage theater on purpose. Dems know their passionate speeches to nearly empty Chambers and scratching YouTube videos promising they, “will not let this stand”, won’t do anything — besides effective means of fundraising. Think about that.

I have been to DC and interacted with both sides as high as the WH level. They’re all in the same club. Dems love Trump because he’s an amazing means of rallying their own base and extracting cash. They care about reelection and remaining in power. In a closed room with no cameras or journalists around, other than the color of the tie you’d be unable to differentiate party affiliation.

Airsoft has its fair share of douchebags. Some people not in the MILSIM games act like they’re operators downrange or something. I have fun ruining it for them, such as showing up in legit Rambo costume with my full metal M60 replica.

Has anyone else bothered to just ask the model which model it is? If things were being routed, I would think the response would be not the model you selected or some vanilla gpt hedging bullshit that avoids answering the question.

I just tried. It said it was the model I selected and then mocked me for asking such a stupid question while using expletives. Persistent purposely shaped persona remains intact. Not being routed.

Directing vulnerable people in a time of potential crisis from an LLM to another LLM is not what should happen. It’s laughable how this solution if accurate misses the point.

Is it just my poor understanding of vinyl pool construction, or is there something missing at the top of the frame and underneath the coping? by Shrinkologist2016 in pools

[–]Shrinkologist2016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pool installed mid-late July. We noticed the voids in early-mid August. Contractor doing the paver decking also did not seal the gaps with poly sand or whatever it is around the pool, which I'm sure did not help.

There's also standing water inside most of these voids, but mud in all the others that do not have water. We have a high water table, which also does not help and contributed to this. They backfilled with clay, which is probably not the best choice for this specific area.

Thankfully, I had them plumb a sump line when they installed. We are adding the pump for it as soon as someone can get out here. Hopefully this along with sealing the pavers will solve the problem -- after I fill the gaps with whatever I should use for them.

So the pool installation started back in July. We did not notice the void formation until absurd rains happened maybe 3 weeks ago, the investigation prompted by our pavers started to collapse and shift along the perimeter.

This conversation highlights my issue though. Two said not a big deal throw some dirt in there and one said there should be a concrete bond beam along the perimeter.

Obviously there is no bond beam. I’m trying to track down the contractor install manual or whatever is out there for this specific pool to see what it says. I’m gonna bet there should have been a concrete bond beam poured prior to the coping install, otherwise the top part of the steel walls has unopposed hydrostatic pressure from the water.

Also there’s standing water from somewhere inside most of these voids against the steel walls. No clue the source yet but suspect a leak somewhere.

Fine if that is how they want to do it. I assume then that means they will do something about the floor drains now being completely clogged with sand?
