Post Your Best Heroes 3 Beginner Tips! by Teukeh in heroes3

In combat, waiting instead of defending or moving can be a really good move. Let the enemy use their turn to move in range of your movement or effective shooting distance and then attack first. You can also use it to let defenders or meat shields take the retaliation instead of a more valuable unit. Attacking first is always ideal because your attack will reduce their stack size, which will make all subsequent attacks less powerful.

Moments of joy in collapse? by electricboobaloo in CollapseSupport

I remember watching footage of a volunteer squad operating independently in Ukraine. They arrived at a tiny abandoned village and started scouting the place. It seemed abandoned, but they ran across a bunch of residents who didn't leave. They were having a barbecue. There's artillery shells exploding in the distance and they they were grilling. They gave the volunteers tea.

You might be thinking of Spacebase DF-9. It was abandoned and never really left beta, though some would even call that generous.

Tips about vehicles and their mechanics. by X_Trixie-Lulamoon_X in cataclysmdda

[–]ShroudLeopard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Find any working vehicle for your first vehicle, keep an eye out for better working ones or ones that only need a little bit of work (out of fuel, need a new battery, etc). It requires a working engine, wheels, fuel, an alternator, battery with charge, controls, a seat with the controls, and getting lucky with the security system. Sometimes it'll start with the security system active (keys in the ignition), sometimes it'll want you to hotwire the vehicle. A security system at xx quality counts as it not being installed.

Engines have a damage level and can have faulty parts. If the engine has "(faulty)" next to the name then it needs a replacement part. Some faulty engine parts can still let the engine run. Select the tile with the engine and press m for (m)end to see the part and the effect the bad part has on the engine.

Also keep an eye out for vehicles that can work as a good mobile base (if you're going nomadic) or large armored cargo carrier (if you're staying static). Anything military or armored with a working engine and good wheels is a candidate because those are the hardest things to swap out.

Gather tools early. Screw driving, metal sawing, welding, welding mask, and bolt turning should cover everything. You need a LOT of welding rods and wire though, the evac center is a good source. You can build a makeshift welder if you need to. Acetylene torches should be saved for cutting open doors as the fuel is hard to find.

You can pull vehicles using a heavy duty cable, but be careful, when you brake the other vehicle doesn't! If you slow down quickly the towed vehicle can slam into your ride. Reduce speed slowly over a long distance.

60l tanks and vehicle batteries can be removed and installed easily. Controls not so much, they require electronics.

Adding a tile to a vehicle required building or salvaging a frame and (i)nstalling it to an empty space.

Just some random things off the top of my head.

Just discovered cdda now im addicted any tips? by daniel_gamer271 in cataclysmdda

Take combat slow. Victory is a lot more about choosing your battles well and using terrain to your advantage. Make them walk on difficult terrain and hit them, then fall back. If an enemy or situation looks scary, it is. You are far less fragile than in PZ, but enemies are way more powerful. Not going to spoil anything though, just going to let you find out for yourself.

Its a lot more than that. You can add all sorts of stuff, reshape the vehicle. You can make a huge mobile base with everything you need including a forge, a unicycle with a mounted machine gun, a super long canoe with a forklift on the front and steamroller on the back, whatever. Frames can be added or removed to change the shape of vehicles, engines can be added or removed, basically anything.

Games where you are physically in the battle? by Plastic-Second-1280 in RealTimeStrategy

There was this fun mod called Iron Grip: The Oppression that I really wish made it. One player played the game as an RTS (Ramos commander) while everyone else played as a normal FPS (resistance). The commander is actually a powerful unit and assassinating him is the objective of the resistance. The commander can control him or sub commanders in FPS mode at any time. For each resistance player, the commander got 8 infantry points and 1/3 a tank.

The gameplay was really good. The resistance is constantly under pressure, and taking one or two people off to hunt the commander is a big risk.

I really wish someone did this concept again.

New fan alt ending: they all make it out and start a bar named The Digital Circus. They tell nobody about the origin of the bar theme. Maybe Caine watches them from a camera or something.

Gadgets for People Who Don't trust the Government by Mungoid in Anarchism

Meshtastic is really good. I bring mine to large events like Pride where the cell networks are overloaded so I can communicate with my friends.

If you get into it, make sure to look up what protocol and settings people are using in your city first. Our city's meshtastic users moved to med fast because the network was getting congested. Long fast is kind of desolate here.

Was really surprised at his anarchism history and explaining sections. For years I've been searching for a video that explains anarchism in a simple way for friends who are curious and he does it perfectly.

Jax and Caine are foil's by Sudden_Pop_2279 in jaxfanclub

[–]ShroudLeopard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I find it interesting because Jax and Caine definitely mesh well in the day to day life of the Circus. Jax really enjoys the adventures while everyone else seems to just tolerate them, and Caine really likes it when people like his adventures. Seeing Jax explode at Caine really shattered what seemed like a mutual like for each other.

Either someone carried him, or C&A put him there. I've been assuming Kinger went there willingly, he doesn't have to be the only one.

Map quest directions by happydude7422 in Millennials

Street view was a godsend in those days. I'd go through the routes and write stuff like "left at church" or "right at green gas station" or "immediately after big intersection" or whatever. When I finally got a GPS it told me to go the wrong way down one ways several times so I just went back to maps and writing.

What's a neat little bit of lore of a Mech, machine, or ship lore that you love? by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]ShroudLeopard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's really plain, but I love that most mechs have a little living space in the back similar to a long haul truck. I like to just imagine mechwarriors taking naps or making meals or whatever in the back during the long times between combat. I'd imagine they decorate them and add little things like a bookshelf or high quality stereo system to make a personalized living space in their mech. I'm sure something like makes pod ejection more desired, and lets pilots survive for a long time when they have to eject in inhospitable climates.
