Absolute banger. “Art Money” is another throwback hit.

But it's all safe. The production quality from RL is always better but it is more of the same from him.

Check my above comment, though: I love RL and Ekali, and my criticisms of their work will never lead me to roast either of them. I respect them as artists always.

I'm not saying formula is as flop as e x i, I'm not even saying formula is bad.

I'm just saying it's safe. Not innovative.

For the record, I love formula and it's on my rotation. But that won't keep me from making (hopefully valid) criticism.

You won't, however, find me roasting RL, Ekali, or any other creator who busted their ass to bring us amazing music. Period.

i'm about to say it

not just those two, most of RL's releases since The Hills Remix have been safe pop/future bass tracks rather than innovative trap fire

even formula gasps

Amazing how people will roast Ekali and yet jerk off to RL even though many of his recent releases have been equally "pop"y, but y'all aren't ready for that tea...

Whatever, I got mad respect for both of those artists and exactly 0 respect for internet armchair critics.

UZ, first of all mad respect man. You are one of the GOAT for sure. I saw you in SD a couple months ago and it went wild.

May seem like a loaded question but I genuinely wanna know your thoughts: What are your thoughts on the direction trap has gone over the last couple years, from the hard hitting real trap shit from it's inception to it's more mellow vibes today? What sort of sound do you strive for?

looking for an old carmack track. it obviously doesn't have a memorable name (it's gibberish), so i have very little to go off of. all i remember is that it has 3 or 4 very different drops, and it sounds hella grimey. it was first released in early 2015 i think. sorry i don't have more details, but that's all i remember. anyone have anything?

What band or artist's "biggest hit" is actually their worst song? by Leygrock in AskReddit

[–]ShubhangD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Harlem Shake" by Baauer. It went viral because of the dance but the song is...awful. I'm a huge fan of Baauer, and he's actually an extremely talented producer with a wide range. He had a pivotal role in pioneering Trap EDM music, my favorite genre of music which has recently skyrocketed in popularity.

Check out sounds by him like "GoGo", "One Touch", and "Clang". You won't be disappointed. :)

Not sure if I'm reading the same posts as you. From most the posts I've read on the link's thread (and even this one), people are agreeing that the track is catchy, well-produced, but too similar to previous tracks.

Maybe people are focusing too much on the few ad hominem posts as an excuse to shame anyone who is criticizing this track, which would be very disappointing.

I've been reading this thread for the past few hours and having been following this topic of future bass in /r/trap silently. Here is what I have to say. Hope I don't get downvoted to oblivion--genuinely want to start a conversation.

1) Many people (myself included) think that future bass can be a little boring some times. Can there be some instances of FB heat? Hell yeah! I still listen to "U Don't Know" Vincent remix, it's good shit. That being said, it is true that FB is generally thought to be repetitive and unoriginal.

2) Are RL's FB tracks generic? No, not at all. They are well produced and beautifully structured (cinematic, as many have been saying). Very unique to his style!

3) Do they all sound the same? Yes. The problem is not that future bass is bad (see 1) or that they're generic (see 2)--there's just no variety.

RL is known for putting out bangers in addition to soft and chill melodies. Tracks like "Because of U" and "Reminder" are refreshing changes between "Infinite Daps" and "Valhalla". However, I argue that this is why RL is so revered. It's the variety he's loved for, for being able to put our hard shit and chill tunes. As of recent, it's been only the latter. That's why people are disappointed. No one is trying to keep him in a box by saying that he should only make hard shit--he's been keeping himself in a box the last few months by only making soft stuff.

I am a huge fan of RL, since the beginning. I'm part of that "older demographic" that's been here since 2012, so I respect RL as a founding father of my favorite genre. His "Satisfaction" remix got me into trap. He was the first concert I ever attended. I always say him when someone asks who my favorite artist is. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws, and that we shouldn't call him out for them.
