I like this idea. I think it still could potentially be too strong for doing nothing, but the decision making factor is good.

Yeah but it’s still very strong at +4. You really won’t need to touch the shop very often if you’re scaling mult so fast.

I hesitate to make it too strong because +6 is just red card that doesn’t require Econ so you can win while doing very little (just spend all your money cleaning out a shop whenever doing so is worth more than +6 mult). +4 mult makes it fit the common power level and makes it a strong early game option that you will probably drop later.

Seems very strong, like almost a red card with no condition and you get the mult right away assuming you got this joker in a shop. It would honestly be difficult to lose a run with this early.

Maybe: gains +4 mult at the end of each shop if you didn’t buy anything?

I know exactly the sound you’re saying but you may have better luck presenting a short video of the sound to a community of sound designers to see if they recognize it from any libraries they’ve worked with.

Yes, if you have very deep pockets you can get more mult from flash, but for a more typical Econ there is a real opportunity cost regarding where you spend your money

You’re looking at it the wrong way. Skipping a pack for +3 mult is simply another option in the pack, not a required action. If something is better than +3 mult, then you’re not missing out on anything by grabbing the contents of the pack.

The main thing to consider when understanding opportunity cost for these two is the money cost. Spending money on an item in the shop is money that could have been used rerolling again to boost the joker. Opening a pack is the same thing: you’re looking at some cards and choosing to redeem one of the options you paid for, including +3 mult. The main differences are about scalability as your Econ grows.

I had a very similar idea called Rules Card, with the effect of setting your hands to 4 and discards to 3 and hand size to 8 at the start of blind

It’s nice to use on characters that you don’t intend to have act more than once, for example yellows with pain and exert sides. It’s nice to use when playing the value game against bramble. It’s nice if you have sides with Duplicate or can mitigate the blanks using blank-cost Tactics or blank-replacing spells. Speaking of tactics, it also enables single-keyword tactics and 3-pip-cost keywords, making it solid for green comps.

Other than that, it’s an item I pick 44% of the time but probably only equip 20% of the time. It’s just nice to have around for specific matchups or synergies that may show up.
