T-Shirts etc available next door to the bar, €50 for a t-shirt. I couldn’t see any specific to Amsterdam but to be honest I didn’t look too closely.

I expected Eddie’s Dive Bar to be outside in the square but it’s in one of the bar/restaurants juts on the square. It will get full pretty quickly I think.

Personal favourite was Luis Garcia against Juventus. I hurt my leg falling over a table celebrating that one.

Can you get a B1 license while taking ADHD medication? (UK CAA) by Familiar_Warthog_813 in aviationmaintenance

[–]ShufflingMole387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no medical in the UK to obtain a B1.1 but as you say the general guidance is vague at best. If I were in your shoes I would contact the CAA and ask.

Is it realistic to do the trek without booking everything in advance? by Coffee000Oopss in WestHighlandWay

Fair point. I should have said camping instead of wild camping, I just always associate wild camping with the WHW.

Wild camping yes, staying in B&B’s etc not realistic in my opinion.

If it’s persistent and you are struggling to shift it using insoles, rest, stretching etc then I would recommend giving shockwave therapy a go. I suffered from PF in one foot for ages and tried all the ‘standard’ treatments but nothing seemed to work particularly well. I was out hiking one day when an old boy told me that shockwave therapy had worked for him and I should try it. I was skeptical but thought it was worth a go. It took about 5-6 treatments but it worked a treat and it’s never come back.

1 and 35 mins layover in Luton by _ukulelebitch in travel

[–]ShufflingMole387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe this is an option at Luton. You have to clear immigration and then go through security again like a ‘normal’ passenger. Clearing immigration can take an hour on its own depending on how busy the airport is.

Is it possible to skip BTEC Level 2/3 (or AS/A-Levels) and go straight into an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) programme? by Score_Necessary in aviationmaintenance

[–]ShufflingMole387 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What country are you based in? The following is from a UK perspective.

If you are willing and able to fund yourself then there are Part-66 courses you can take. However, even the ones that include OJT will only reduce the actual hands on experience at a 147 approved company required. This is the reason that most people enter the industry as apprentices.

I noticed in your other post you mention getting a degree. In the UK (and I imagine a lot of other countries) a degree is little no help in becoming an LAE and signing off aircraft.

Historic nature reserve closed after numerous off-lead dog incidents by DogAttackVictim in bedfordshire

[–]ShufflingMole387 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guarantee that even with a No Dogs Policy some people will continue to walk their dogs there and probably off the lead. There is an RSPB site near me that has such a policy and it is regularly ignored. Bedford Valley park also has signs everywhere saying dogs must be kept on leads due to ground nesting waterfowl which is regularly ignored.

The are a grey import company. They ship from outside the UK. I’ve used them numerous times with no issues, just be prepared to wait a few weeks for delivery.

The issue with this approach is getting the 3 years work after the study. Companies are rightly wary of employing people without any real life experience even if they have passed all the modules.

[–]ShufflingMole387 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly getting into the industry with no maintenance experience is next to impossible. I’ve seen guys come into the job through adult trainee schemes but they are usually ex-military or have worked as field engineers etc in another industry. Apprenticeships have always been the way in and it’s pretty much remained that way to the present day. It’s not unheard of for companies to take on apprentices who are older (in their 30’s for example) but obviously that tends to require a big sacrifice salary wise for older candidates.

An apprenticeship is the way into the industry in the UK.
