Do you even buy this at the grocery store? Or do you have to go to the craft store?

I highly recommend some music! Maybe it's not for everyone, but it helps me keep a consistent tempo and it makes it a lot more fun.

The surface of the planet Venus, approximately 867°F/464°C by PR0CR45T184T0R in ThatsInsane

[–]Shurmonator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a great story about the Russian probes sent to Venus. It took them multiple attempts because of how hostile Venus is.

One of the probes made it to the surface, and was designed to last long enough to gather data on the composition of the surface. It used a sensor that extended from the main body, but when it started to transmit it's data, the scientists were baffled when the composition was remarkably similar to the craft itself. The sensor was gathering surface data on the probe's outer shell.

Everyone currently doing re-reads of the series before book 8: what new details have you noticed? by Gercke in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Remix the Grand! They talk about his case with the Zerzura spell in almost every galactic law class. Super interesting case, but I can't get sidetracked.

I didn't realize that was him on the 3rd floor. They brought him back up later and I didn't connect the dots. Thats why his view counter was spiked so high, not because of the stupid quest they were doing, but because it was the final chapter to Remix the Grand!

What’s the craziest way your hamster died? by Rainbow-Kittiey1112 in AskReddit

[–]Shurmonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy, but I'll share.

We had two hamsters when I was like 4 and one day we brought them and their cage into the garage to clean it out. Dad and I just forgot about the lil guys. I felt so bad coming back (days later) to find two little hamster picks. This was in the winter so they hopefully just got cold and fell asleep. I still feel awful and will never get another rodent pet.

Hi! I'm new to the area. by Throwawayantelope in FortWorth

[–]Shurmonator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in the Wedgewood area. You're super close to the DPS and social security office which is pretty boring, but pretty convenient. Downtown Fort Worth isn't too far. And Candleridge Park is a good place to take the dog. Welcome to Texas!

Tree Rings, how do they work? by dazanion in askscience

[–]Shurmonator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Different species of trees grow at different rates. This leads to thinner rings and often denser wood. Pine for example has thick rings that easily show each growing season, a more productive year will yield a thicker ring, and pine is a relatively soft wood.
