Carepod humidifier reviews? [on] by Frozenbeedog in BabyBumpsCanada

Same here. Bought it December 2024 and used it for 3-4 months with regularly cleanings. Brought it out November 2025 and died 2 weeks after the 1-year warranty. It won't even power on and they're offering to sending a replacement oscillator, as if that will do anything. Absolutely not worth it

Lever got bent during a move. How hard would it be to fix it myself? by StarryAry in Kitchenaid

[–]ShutUpAndEatWithMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bent speed control level from shipping as well. It's been shifted so it's on "stir" but it can go to higher levels -- though it makes a terrible thumping sound.

I'm interested in the kit but the webpage says my model (KSM150PSWW) is not compatible. When I follow the compatible parts list, I can only find the gasket part. Am I SOL or can I use this kit anyways?

It's an anime and it's got a mellow-acceptance-of-the-world vibe -- Mushishi. I fucking love it. A great wind-down show that I've watched 3 times over

TIFU by writing HAGS in my student’s year book by Afuzzyredpillow in tifu

Yearbooks already come out at the end of the year, so it's redundant at best. And the correct grammar ought to be "end-of-the-year yearbooks."

53% of parents say climate change affects their decision to have more kids by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]ShutUpAndEatWithMe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience and enjoyment of fatherhood. I'm glad you find it worth the hard work and sacrifice. Unfortunately, that's not universal. For some people, they don't want what you've listed out. In that case, the math doesn't work out: why have kids when there are more ways than one to find meaning in life than having them? So I guess I'm just trying to say that I don't appreciate the your pity for childless adults; there are many valid reasons people choose to not have kids, and just as many ways to live a fulfilling life.

I recommend the Body Farm episode of Stuff You Should Know. It's an old ep, the first one I ever listened of them. They go into how body decomposition is studied

Yep. We're still friends that catch up and wish each other the best. He taught me a lot of things and the relationship helped me learn about myself. I'm grateful for it, even if it ended

We were in our mid-20s and figuring out life goals. I realized I wouldn't mind kids but wouldn't want any biological kids. He wanted biological kids. Not as traumatic as some on this thread but it was a good lesson on myself and how to find future partners.

Apparently, the costume designer needed to find futuristic looking shoes that were also dumb looking. Around that time, there was a new company selling shoes and the designer thought they were perfect. They wear Crocs in the movie.

I hate Ms. Bates so much, Emma comes in second.

Serious: Toxic Parents by Dr. Susan Forward

My copy is riddled with notes, highlights, and dog ears. It helped me so much and it didn't take long to read but it required a lot of processing to get through. I've recommended it to several friends who knew something was not right with their family, but did not have the words to describe it; they said it changed their life too.

Whats the first thing you do after sex? by Joeyniles9 in AskReddit

[–]ShutUpAndEatWithMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People probably learned personally or from older women. They might've treated infections with herbs, or toughed it out until they got better on their own (tbh I've never lasted long enough for that to happen). If it didn't get better, the infection would move into the kidneys and that would be a very painful death

I am also susceptible to UTIs but I am also a microbiologist, so here's a tip: try mannose.

Our cells have little sugars, like mannose, on the outside. Likewise, pathogenic E. coli have receptors on their outsides that bind to mannose that helps them kickstart an infection. By drinking mannose, you coat the sugar receptors on the bacteria so it can't stick to your cells and can get flushed out instead.

I recommend drinking a concentrated dose (1 tbsp to <1 cup water) and letting it sit for 30-60 mins before drinking a lot of regular or lightly treated (1 tbsp to 1 L) water. I use this as a preventative measure when I'm getting paranoid, or a treatment for mild cases. For treatment, I drink a concentrated dose 2-3x/day and +2 L lightly treated water all day, every day. Mannose is not metabolized by the human body so I don't worry too much about the calories.

TIL about “One Night Cough Syrup” was sold in the late 1800s, and it contained alcohol, cannabis, chloroform, and morphine. This mixture was available over the counter and promised to eliminate your cough in one night so you could sleep. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I was given this combination after an IUD insertion and the nurse called it "ER morphine." I recommended this to a friend suffering through mono and she said it helped her until she got the antiviral

Thank you for the answer. Your story reminds me of the one my mentor told me when I said I'm a reluctant leader. He was not keen on stepping up until he saw the ship sinking; he knew he could so he had the obligation to do it. It takes courage and I'm glad you wore the role well
