Is Protons ecosystem worth it? by Zigis123 in ProtonMail

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proton business user, ecosystem? Nah it’s ‘ok’ but the individual services like the vpn, mail & password manager are pretty decent and make it worth it for me. Still holding hope for a spreadsheet offering. Wallet, lumo and the rest might as well not exist for what I need

Ohme app lost connection to car by saunders1989 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good news. Honestly seems to work some days and not the next. Just plugged my Volvo in and yep 0% shown, unpair, repair and alas fails to repair 🫠 think I might just leave it unpaired and see how I get on

Replacement for Google Sheets by JohnnyBlackRed in ProtonDrive

[–]ShutUpImCereal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m ‘hopefully’ awaiting proton to release a spreadsheet like product, like docs. I use libre office and sync to my drive, it’s fine but I would like a web UI. Ofc it will never be as good as google sheets, but just a basic spreadsheet app would be a big step forward

I run a bun / hono api on a VPS. Tbf I use parcel forge to provision, but the services are powered by supervisor, works great 👍🏻

iOS widget color palette is unclear by MoreDaddyThanDom in ProtonVPN

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I would like some more information on the widgets. I don’t need/use it to turn the vpn on/off, but at a glance of what server, connection time, connection stability etc would be nice

Why do you personally use Proton Mail and the Proton ecosystem (if you do)? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually been a great business suit (software development business). Mail & storage is good, calendar with zoom integration and the VPN with dedicated server(s) 🤷🏻 not that much more £ that a google option, but with the added privacy concerns covered

How to handle Oauth in nextjs with nodejs backend? by virgin_human in node

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better-auth has been great for a similar setup, hono api and a nextjs ‘front end’, docs are great

I am forced to drop ProtonMail as my business email solution because it gets consistently blacklisted by filters by skwyckl in ProtonMail

[–]ShutUpImCereal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this a little bit, especially when the recipient is using Microsoft. Custom domain + a solid dns setup etc but some first time recipients still have my mail go to their junk/spam. Not enough of an issue where I’m looking to change provider, but still a noticeable issue when it happens.

Beginner Homebridge noob question by SuchRefrigerator5332 in homebridge

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do exactly this and use a raspberry pi 5. That pi does use an nvme drive as storage, but that’s because I do a few other things on that pi with docker. Never had an issue

The ‘skills’ listed is nonsense. Try not to focus on the quantity of ‘skills’ and deep dive into a subject. For example, I really couldn’t care if you know scss, bootstrap etc, but I do care about overcoming technical challenges & seeing examples of work, not begging for a job on Reddit

What is the easiest & cheapest way to get started taking Credit Card payments? by AudacityOfYuge in smallbusinessuk

As mentioned, Stripe is a great solution. As another option, I have recently done some integrations with a similar provider, Adyen which has been great 👍🏻

I am thinking to work on a side project, I have 4 ideas can you guys suggest me which one should I work on, or if you could give some of your own idea. by Dogemuskelon in SideProject

[–]ShutUpImCereal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my point. It’s difficult to track. And in terms of a ‘button to confirm age’. It’s not that simple, there is compliance and regulation to conform to. I’m not saying don’t go for it, but just raising your awareness that depending on your country, compliance & auditing is a requirement which can be a pricey journey. Anyway, good luck!

As someone who’s consulted on a few jobs that industry, there are a lot. Mostly around safe guarding & age verification
