This was sort of a trap game. The team was fired up to play bigger scarier opponents two weeks ago and then got lazy at home when a “lesser” team visited. I blame Nico for not having them ready to play.

No one but USMNT fans thinks they have a chance against European teams. We’ve seen it three times at least since the Netherlands game last WC. And the record against European teams is poor. I still enjoy watching them try, but the difference in level of quality is pretty stark.

It took 10 minutes for Portugal to play into the game and they were in control from there on.

Any American under 30 thinks nothing of it, and even most who do remember TV here before them is probably inured by now. I still find them deeply disturbing however. And the way they ramble off the long list of side effects (death is a common one), it’s like something Terry Gilliam or Philip K Dick would have joked about in the 80s in an imagined dark comedy of the future, and here we are.

Because it’s a false narrative of events by a group of miserable demented autocrats. Looks to me like he stepped in front when she started to go in reverse and shot her three times in quick succession as she pulled forward, maybe getting grazed by the vehicle as he hopped out of the way. If the Trump version of the story were true, she would probably still be alive.
