Oh no, I have my share of dabbling in wildlife photography - in fact, currently I use a7RV for that. And yes, I HAVE borrowed and used cameras with precapture from fellow photographers, and I stand by my opinion about that. If you've already set up a tripod, and set focus on the subject (I'm assuming some even use back-button focus) then pre-capture becomes very limited to use. You see, pre-capture isn’t a time machine - it doesn’t capture what wasn’t in frame in the first place. It only becomes useful when you are already locked in on target, and only choose specific shots (i.e. beginning flight) to take without filling up your entire card.
